Hey guys, in this video I go over my max effort upper body conjugate workout. Conjugate method can be a little confusing when you are starting out but I'm hoping this workout routine makes it easier for you to understand and try for yourself. Conjugate method is great for building strength, explosiveness, and muscle all at the same time. Hopefully you enjoy the video!

For those trying to replicate a Westside style of conjugate, this isn't it. But that's the beauty on conjugate, you are free to have your own twists for your individual training and needs. Some aspects are the same though. Good video.

Hey Coach Joe - I'm 51 and I started going to the gym two years ago - I weighed 130 lbs - I'm now 160 and bench press 165 for ten and am working on 185 (can get 4 so far, my new working weight for flat bench press).

Hey, quick question. Are you running the same movement for weeks 1-3? First week 5rm, 2nd week 3rm then 3rd week 1rm? Deload and then switch movements? Am I understanding correctly?

I am yes, but you can vary it each week if you want to. That’s where it’s maybe a little different than most conjugate method programs. I just like to see numbers for at least a month with the same main variation. Totally your call though!

seems like conjugate is a form of HIT. Am i right in the assumption?

HIIT* Conjugate is a great way to regulate intensity as well as regulating recovery, by having a focus day on strength, and a focus day on power/speed, since the speed days are really good for recovering from the strength days as well as you still continue to build force production, but, on those days you can still build strength on accessories, for example, i recently hit a kang squat 1RM PR, great for back&hamstring stimulus, as well as complimenting the low bar regarding using the upper back in conjunction with the legs
