Thanks Brother…have a blessed new year all! You are “spot on” with both sides of the issue. My only advice is to keep having patience but lately, I’m becoming more of a regular patient. I’m a Gulf War Veteran (89-91), and many of my illnesses have been rather “stealthy,” and have been slowly expanding to a point that current diagnoses are the only real nexus I have as evidence. MEDDCO doesn’t have my records of my medical appointments for sleep deprivation. Many of my, Neurological disorders & Nerve degeneration, such as Tinnitus, Headaches, RLS & Narcolepsy are my main “medically unexplained” symptoms, & aren’t a part of my family genes. Meanwhile, my appeal has been pending at the Review stage since 11/23. This waiting in itself…causes multiple depressive disorders. Take care, Brothers & Sisters!🙌🙏🙌

Even at 60, I can't say my Gulf War service (Transportation) affected me much, but CFS and IBS got my attention. I've received a couple letters from the gov't. stating we "may have/possibly/might have been in areas of dust clouds from destroyed chemical weapons," so maybe there's something to it. I just recently got my VA Health care card, but so far, I'm at 0%. Thank you for this video, Jordan.

I'm a Gulf War Vet with a 70% P&T with a 30% unemployabiliy for PTSD. I have severe hearing loss , Gulf War Illness Syptoms including Severe Chronic fatigue. Respiratory problems and skin issues that dont heal . Severe Migraine headaches so bad that I've had to lay in my darkened bedroom literally all day and night completely nauseated and head being crushed by a vice . And it happens at least once and often 2 -3 times per week. Not always lasting for several hours but normally for a couple

In my experience, the process also depends on the reviewer too ... Having all of the necessary evidence, letters, and statements doesn't necessarily mean that it will be a swift process or that you will even win your claim ... My OSA claim was denied , even though I had every bit of medical documentation and evidence, including a formal diagnosis and nexus letter from a specialis, in supportof my claim ... In the denial letter/explanation, it says that the denial judgement was based on the reviewer's opinion ... Point being, all your ducks may be in a row, but the VA is specifically looking for holes in your claim or reasons reasons to deny it

Despite being a gulf war veteran, I was denied for CFS citing "Less than 50%" and despite being actually diagnosed with CFS at my C&P exam. The VA is always trying to figure out how to deny. I'm currently waiting on an HLR and if that doesn't work, I plan to hire an attorney.
@Jughead242 ай бұрын
Sorry to say but just get the lawyer...they'll take some but it will expedite. Another route is to get your congressional office involved. It's considered a serious inquiry internally and the claim goes to the front of the line with mostly positive results. They want that eye off of them
@vaclaimsacademy2 ай бұрын
It sounds like your C&P examiner gave you an unfavorable nexus opinion.. It’s one of the more frustrating ways to get a claim denied.. I know you are doing a HLR, and plan to go attorney straight after, I would personally do one more supplemental claim, roll the dice to get a better C&P examiner and save myself potential years and years of court appeal time

Jordan, that all sounds good but the VA examiners shoot down claims daily. I was diagnosed in service with headaches, served in Desert Storm, did my time and they continue to deny. Diagnosed with headaches, MDD, and COPD with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea service connected but thats it.
@vaclaimsacademy2 ай бұрын
This sounds like a case of the classic “no continuation of symptoms” denial. I think what happened there Kevin is that maybe you had those diagnoses back during service, but did not show that you were currently receiving treatment for them. Am I on target?

I'm at 90 percent now but been denied for a lot of claims i had put in for i did four tours in Iraq 06-2010 started in camp Anaconda than jump to other camps for the rest of my other tours, did fob security, convoy security, prison work, airport security and patrols around the towns in Iraq. I think alot of veterans like myself are being screwed for what we did in country because the VA said you're not that bad off physically but in the long run your health tells you otherwise it catches up to you because of what we did in Iraq or Afghanistan if the VA doesn't want to award us the benefit we are due than they should have not send us to War.

My C&P examiner said i need a 5k MRI to diagnose me with radiculopathy eventhough i am diagnosed with it from my doctor. How am i supposed to afford that? I made a claim for my back. Wow I was in United Arab Emirates. Have the migraines 50% but none of the other. My vso submitted a higher review on sleep apnea they denied me the first time and insomnia and anxiety. I just submitted 4 things as a secondary to my hypertension. So will wait a month to submit what you suggested. So you didn’t have to provide any medical evidence just wrote out a statement. I have IBS , had it in service
@TexasMade9032 ай бұрын
@damienbell3155 Does your medication for hypertension cause you to urinate a lot? If so, I would file urinary frequency secondary to hypertension. For chronic fatigue syndrome, I had nearly all the symptoms, and I just filed my claim. With fibromyalgia, you're going to have to request to see a rheumatologist from your PCP. IBS should be easy, considering you were diagnosed on active duty. I recommend using the bva website and looking at past decisions related to your disabilities. Last, I highly recommend that you submit a statement of support along with your claims.
