I’m a reservist who during drill service had a permanent hearing change where I can’t be deployable without hearing aids (H3).. I did my c&p at the Va and they hit me with the “your hearing is within Va standards blah blah blah”. Ok tell the military that and as I was told significant hearing loss.

My audience is majority made up of veterans but I absolutely like to show my transitioning military some love too because it’s actually where this knowledge is the most actionable. Talking to active duty spells doom for VA disability channels typically, which is why you rarely see it. It’s essentially an unknown unknown to that audience, so it’s a very hard to break through and get through to most of yall but I’m gonna do it. Cheers!

Is a np hold the same clout as a md, when getting a nexus letter. It seems like that is all people have nowadays.
@vaclaimsacademy11 сағат бұрын
An MD out-clouts a NP technically speaking, but the VA will play favourites anyway so sometimes it doesn’t matter. I see them go with their NP over a reputable super-specialist pretty consistently. Then again, I see a ton of claims so take That with a grain of salt, probably not as common as I’m making it sound

How can you get a va doctor to take a problem list item to diagnosis when you have a diagnosis outside and current service connected any idea?
@vaclaimsacademy11 сағат бұрын
Hey BigTime 👨🚒 If I am understanding your question correctly, you’ve got one of those fringe diagnoses on third base that are flirting with home plate, and you’re wondering how to drive it home. This takes a little bit of ego management on your part by asking for the sale while making the doctor think it’s their idea . I have refined the following variation of something like : “ Hey doctor, I’ve been diagnosed with X, and it’s still bugging me I was just wondering what treatment options you think I should be considering” It’s an assumptive close and it puts the battleground on what treatment options and you are giving the doctor power and a sense of freedom while also basically telling them to get your diagnosis on record at the VA

@teeybannister10 сағат бұрын
@@1kefims it’s doesn’t matter how you do it, one trip or multiple trip. Just get it done. Va doesn’t care about that…. Only, “ is it diagnosed or not”… Although i will say , C&P examiners can also give you a diagnosis too.

@vaclaimsacademy10 сағат бұрын
Bonus points if you can get that neuropathy on document prior to your C&P exam, but as long as you bring it up DURING the exam (and you roll a good examiner), that should suffice. I rarely see them test for it since imaging is expensive and I don’t even know if they can really see anything to confirm

I’m going through the pains of all this now. Va gave me only 10% rating for my back. I’m barely able to move at times. I can’t even pick up my son at 3 years old to hug him. Nope. If you're eligible to apply for smc, that would mean you're 100 percent or total permanent iu. Is an extra 100 a month worth risking reopening yourself to reexamination? 4k vs 4100... seems like a no brainer.

@vaclaimsacademyКүн бұрын
You’re asking the life-changing questions if you’re still active duty, keep going down the rabbit hole. In the medical condition field should be your official diagnoses, the best way to set yourself up for a great VA claim when you transition out is to make sure (visually confirm) that EVERY condition you are suffering from is official diagnosed in that record. Without that you’re in a rough spot

This Nexus letter stuff is only confusing people. I think people aren't filing because they can't afford to go to the doctor and get these letters. Your C&P Examiner CAN be your Nexus. Maybe that's rolling the dice but at least you know you still have a chance to win the claim. Am I wrong here?
@viper21483 күн бұрын
NOTE: I went into my CPE without a PTSD diagnosis! I simply filled out the relevant forms, and submitted proof (performance evals (APR), decorations, orders and news articles) that I was in a life-threatening environment (it does not have to be combat). READ THE DBQ AND TAKE NOTES of how each of the identified thresholds applies to you. You must have ALL of the listed criteria. STAY FOCUSED ON THOSE CRITERIA! The evaluator asked me about my marriage. I told her that we're Catholic and don't believe in divorce. She asked me about my memory. I told her I always bring a note pad and pen (and then I showed it to her) to remember small things. She asked me about my appearance. I told her my wife dresses me. etc. ANSWER HONESTLY, but these are examples of my situation.

Many veterans have ADHD and don't know it. The military and VA are very bad at testing you and getting you the help you need. ADHD can cause you to make bad decision and not be able to complete tasks. They say over 50% of people in prison have ADHD. Toxic chemicals can cause serious neurological and cognitive issues. Do your homework and talk to experts, not doctors.
@vaclaimsacademy2 күн бұрын

The military and VA use Chaplains as spies, informants, and snitches. If you talk to a Chaplain about some abuse that you had by an officer, the Chaplain has permission to go into your medical records and inform the Mental Health Clinic. The Mental Health Clinic will not talk to you but will start a witch hunt against you. They will notify the police, your doctors, and others. The military and VA are not about helping you. That is why over 22 veterans commit suicide every day or become homeless. They will make it very hard for you to get the medication you may need. Go to civilian doctors who don't care about your military complaints. Write your elected officials. Fight for your benefits and mental health. They made you sick with toxic chemicals and now don't want to help you.
