Well I knew that 170 was the max checkout, but I'd never really realised that some of the 160's can't be done! Probably because I never go for shots that high. I shall just keep on practising my double 1's!!!!!!
@davidw97954 жыл бұрын
Good points in this video, I feel this applies to some of the smaller checkouts too. For example 46, people like to go 14 for d16, but there's an odd number either side of the 14 so I go for 6 or a 10 as it's two numbers grouped together so you can afford a small slip. Same with 43 some people go 11 for d16 but then there's an even number either side, so if you go for 3 for d20 then there's 19 and 17 either side so if you slip to either side you'll still leave a double.Theres a few more like this but this post is long enough lol It's all about giving yourself every chance, especially if you've only 2 darts in your hand.
@Norton15314 жыл бұрын
My tactics are to just keep the maths as simple as possible. So for your first example I'd be going 6, D20. So I'm both shit at darts and maths and tactics! Great!!

I’d love to see a video about finishes and what numbers to go for and what not for beginners. For example when should you go for odd numbers or even numbers to put your self in a good position next time you visit. And maybe some basic math rules that could help with scenarios and when to go for certain numbers.

Would have been nice if you went over specific numbers where double-double is ideal. Like 131, 134 and 137. For these numbers I'm always going T17, T18 or T19 respectively to leave tops-tops if my opponent is on a doable finish. This is because tops-tops is by far the easiest double-double for me and is much much easier than going T20-T13-D16 for the 131 for instance. Another one would be 100 - if I hit single 20 first dart and it's not a good marker I'm going tops-tops. However if the single 20 is just above the treble and I feel i can work my 2nd dart into the treble then I'm gona stay on T20. It's all relative and depends on your preferences. For 97, I like my chances of T18-D12 so I'd probably go that way unless my opponent is on a finish of 80 or less, then i may consider D19-tops. There's a lot of room for debate which just adds another fun element to the game.

What I really find fascinating on and on again is the mental work showing off in checkouts. Your are always happy to go for D20 because you know your still have good chances if you miss it. F*cking D1 is just millimetres away, but you're getting nervous because you think of what might happen if you miss it, before you try to hit it. That's just brain crap because your skills are strong enough to decently leave the mad house. That actually helps me, just before being in double trouble, tell myself: "no matter what happens before, this dart in your hand is likely to be the last one you'll need to win the match"

Debating Finishing is like debating politics and/or religion to a lot of darters!!!! Even on the tele, commentators make their opinion known when a player goes a route that is not traditional or not prescribed. Americans struggle with this because we play so much cricket. If we ever get good at doing it “wrong” perhaps the paradime might shift? BUT I DONT THINK SO! 😂

hmm with regards to the 96, i definitely think after hitting S20, going for T20 D8 is better since S20 can probably be used as a marker. and as for the 135, id probably go for the bull and and risk hitting the 25, esp if i know the opponent's gonna win. i mean, gotta try to get as high average as possible if you know youre gonna lose anyway eh haha

Depends where the first dart goes, for me, if I miss, I miss low, so that's now always the best option for me anyway

At 120 I aim for bottom wire d20, if it goes I’m staying there for 3 darts it’s a bloody big bed. On the other hand if my dart comes inside S20 I still got a poke at 100 and I’d get a beautiful marker dart if the T20 goes

My finish's are my personal issue. I played in a game on webcam darts, it's on my channel. I needed T18 D8, I missed T18 So to keep my flow going I thought just go D18 D8:( (wrong I know) But flow is important to me! I missed the double & hit S18 which left D17 but I hit the D17 Last dart:) The guy from South Africa said "a bit unorthodox but it worked" I started to learn the 81 finish. T19 D12, If i miss T19 & hit S19 then T12 D13, If I miss T12 leaves the bull. These type of situation is what I need to learn so I can keep the flow going & without really doing the maths, just reputation of practice & miss's to know what to go for. Great video again Jack, would love to see some like 80-90 90-100 finishes etc and why players go this route, could be a little series of finish videos maybe? keep up the good work. PCG

Nice video about an interesting part of Darts. I am one of the players going for T18 D12 instead of your D19 D20. Reason: You tried to hit T19 before, hence your Dart should be around that triple area (at least if you have some dart skills) and that for me personally is to far away from D19 in order to be a good marker. And, second reason, in those situations I kind of like to change my focus to another number, like doing a conscious restart. But to each his own :-)
@JoeJones-qe1lc4 жыл бұрын
yeah im the same, also if you miss the T18 and hit the single 18 your left still with a decent out shot with 2 darts at 60 if you miss out side the double 19 your making life harder for yourself

@@JoeJones-qe1lc But when he was suggesting going d19 d20 for 78 he was talking about if you only have 2 darts left, not 3. If you go for t18 with 2 darts left and hit a single 18 and leave 60 you can't finish 60 with 1 dart.

How on earth is 2 or 3 doubles to win a game bad sportsmanship? I've played on a Yorkshire board since I was 14 (I'm 39 in 3 weeks) and I find it easier to go double double just cos that's what I'm used to doing competitively. I'm looking forward to the pandemic shite to be over with s we've decided to join the trebles league once the darts season kicks off again. Especially with MAD taking up the reigns. So I'll be prepared for those who think I'm a bad lad if I go double double then eh?
@TheDartsReferee4 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's bad, but if you do it a lot, someone will. I think it's much better to go double double in some situations
@jamesfenton67724 жыл бұрын
@@TheDartsReferee yeah I totally agree. So for 97 I have in the past gone for 17 tops tops. I know T19 tops is the normal way. But 17 tops tops is the only way on a Yorkshire board so for me it's kinda getting used to it really, that's all. Old habits die hard and all that. Yes, that's a harder way of doing it but it is just habit. Like 120 finish for me is easier going 3x tops.

I've gone double double when my mate (who is a better player than me) is able to finish fairly easily by his standard. Also if I was to attempt a finish with the BULL and hit the 25, then I would avoid going 14, D8, as I also tend to miss the single 14 sometimes. Instead I'll maximise my chances to hit a big single by aiming for 3/17 to leave me either D11 or D4.

"Going double-double is considered bad sportsmanship" .... by the person who just lost probably. It's open for everyone to use, it's not like you're getting any sort of advantage over your opponent so I say go for it if you want to. First of all, please explain why hitting a "double-double" is considered unsportsmanlike behavior. There is nothing in the rulebook prohibiting this practice so, I consider this a legitimate strategic move. I have seen many PDC streaming matches in which players hit a "double-double" and no one seems upset. Secondly, when assessing your doubling out chances, it might be helpful for a player to keep a careful personal log of his/her scoring of matches played. Later analysis would be based on actual data, not the player's perceived chance of doubling out.

@@TheDartsReferee Yes, I did hear you say that you don't think that "double-double" is unsportsmanlike behavior. Also, if I become more "relaxed", my pulse would fall to single digits. Keep up your good work.
