Duuuude!!!!! Electrical stuff makes my brain hurt 🤕 ....but u just helped me understand why the voltage & amp reading were "off" between the shunt readout and the inverter readout. It's so hard to get a clean, slow, clear explanation on these videos

Great video, I work on a ward learned loop shunt wound machine, dragline, was looking for a clip on dc clamp, good job!

Wish I would have seen your video before I blew my meter! Thanks for posting it. I was trying to read the current leakage on my truck when the car was turned off like many videos describe on youtube. My battery had been dying every 2 or 3 days and I was trying to determine if there was an electrical short somewhere. The problem I ran into with directly connecting like in your first example is that the intial in-rush of current was waaay too much for my unfused harbor freight meter and blew it within seconds. The meter was rated for 10 amps to measure DC current. An inline fuse makes a lot of sense.. I wish I did that, but of course that would have just blew right away too? Do they make little circuit breakers like an in-line fuse? That makes sense I guess, with a car battery that has hundreds of cold cranking amps and I didn't count on that high of a draw for the computer system and everything else that initially switches on in the truck when connecting the meter directly and trying to measure the current flow. I guess I'm going to try to get one of those clamp meters and try again.. that seems like the best method that you have described.

I ran into the same problem with the initial current being too high if you use a jumper wire to connect the terminals first then put the meter on. leave it sit for a minute with the jumper wire and the meter on then remove the jumper wire. It will allow the large initial surge of current to not pass through the meter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2jNfaOImtCJbZo

good job ,,I always like shunt way,, i trusted to Calibrate my meters it shows more stable reading than clamp

Sir my clamp multimeter DC Current Rang is 0-6000 µA it means i can not measure even 1 amp dc current with this?? and if i do this it can be brunt?

Thank you for talking slow - I understood everything.

Very clear and practical explanation (I didn't know about the shunt method). @2:40 the safety inspector arrives... ;-) It's a little distracting (I love cats) but managed to stay focused on what you were saying, nonetheless. Thanks !

AlainHubert thanks. My cats have a tendency to do that. They're nowhere to be seen until I start filming then they make their guest appearance LOL.

You don’t have to say “quick” video. Many of us would prefer much longer videos anytime over “quick” videos.
