Right. I actually love meeting new people but it has to be on my own terms. Being too obnoxiously-forceful whether you mean to or not is sure to make anyone who’s not exactly set up like that to pull back and not want to associate with you. So long as there’s mutual respect and appreciation for at least some degree of personal space (especially in the more incipient stages) it’s literally so calm. I write Bibles ranting and raving about not particularly enjoying the company of people I’m not familiar with but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to get familiar with them if we have some sort of shared/personal connection. It’s the social entitlement that can put more reticent/boundary-conscious people off and that’s where most of the frustration is actually directed. Meeting respectful new people isn’t actually the issue.

I listen much more than I speak and I've found that people are not shy to tell you their life story. I think most people would like someone to listen to them but that's hard to find . Introverts are not unhappy people, they just lack the desire to be noticed and out front. I love you all, you wonderfully quiet people❤️❤️❤️
@jessicah34505 жыл бұрын
Introverts make great friends because from my experience, we are great listeners. Remember there’s always two sides to any social interaction, the one speaking, and the one listening. Some extroverts seem almost compulsive when they talk and to talk a lot. Maybe from trying to talk over other extroverts. It’s refreshing for them when they find someone who isn’t as interested in talking so much, and willing to listen instead. Give up worrying about being too quiet and what to say next, and just listen to the other person. I think most people, extroverted or introverted, would benefit if more people learned the art of being a good active listener.

Batman is an introverted superhero however with an extroverted public persona. An otherwise introverted Bruce Wayne would have never made it as a business man. As long as you embrace your introversion while working on developing your outward persona, you’ll be fine. It’s like having a personality switch inside. Social fluency is a skill that can be learned, even if your social altitude remains forerverly introverted.
@jessicah34505 жыл бұрын
Interestingly, introverts are better at playing an extroverted role than extroverts are at acting introverted. Most introverts know because extroversion is seen as a positive trait in our society; we’ve had to fake being extroverts during events like job interviews. I can’t think of a time when an extrovert would be expected to act introverted, actually.

Oh my gosh then you have the added anxiety that you can’t see! But hey if it works for you, go for it. Funny, I’m very camera shy (I can’t see my audience through the camera), but I do better making speeches in front of an audience. Maybe it helps that I can see their reactions. In speech classes, I liked picking out just one acquaintance or one person from the audience who seemed engaged in what I was saying, and pretended that I was just talking to them (without staring at them to the point of creepy).

Im always nerveous with people but if I meet animal, I always cuddle with animal especially a cats. I’m realize I’m antisocial,because I’m always panic attack when make eye contact,sudden get touch(handshake) and always sweat when talk with stranger even friend. The point is… I’m just want to be more open,and not be antisocial,because I’m comfy with alone,that freak me out…. I can be alone for 1 month without meet people or talk… and it’s bad thing…. @jessicah34505 жыл бұрын
Taking deep breaths, speaking from your diaphragm helps you get more oxygen and makes your voice sound stronger. It has a natural anti-anxiety effect. Practice relaxing one muscle group (discreetly) at a time. Like your hand, or wiggling your toes in your shoes, and then relaxing them. Sit or stand in an “open” position, not with your arms crossed (that is a “closed” position). It makes you seem more confident even if you aren’t feeling it. I wiggle my toes in my shoes to release what I call my nervous energy, and I make sure that I have my back straight, and am taking deep breaths. It takes practice, but it works. There are many ways to self-soothe. Find one that the other person is unlikely to notice. Also know that the other person is probably nervous and uncomfortable meeting new people too. I know plenty of extroverts who still dread meeting new people.

Jose Castro Practice talking online, don't shut up. Keep trying and take your time. Say your words slowly, try to relax. Sometimes, people who stammer are trying to say too much or are too nervous.
@jessicah34505 жыл бұрын
I stammer when I’m nervous. It’s the worst how it makes me more nervous, so I get in a cycle to the point that I can’t even get words out to finish my sentence, even though I’m trying to push them out. I find that pausing, taking a deep breath, then finishing what I was saying helps. I think the anxiety brought by how we think we might stutter then makes us stutter more. I get a weird look sometimes but I mostly do it around strangers who I will probably never see again. Like the other commenter said too, I do feel like I’m trying to say too much too fast, then it leads to the stutter emerging. So again, just stop talking, close your mouth, take a deep breath, then try to finish what you were saying. It gives your brain some time to catch up and get over that bump. I’ve never had any speech therapy because “females don’t have that problem”, and I don’t ch-ch-chop my words as much as I just lose my ability to speak and operate my mouth totally. Once I recover, if it was a bad episode, I apologize and say I just lost my train of thought, got a bit tongue tied, am tired, or had a brain fart.
