Has anyone ever met someone a gay bar and later regret you didn't bother to see if it would've went somewhere. Well a few year ago before I met my now boyfriend, I was out at a club with some friends on a saturday night, just our usual things we did back in the day. My friends were out on the dance floor and I stayed behind at the table i didn't feel like dancing so I was watching everyone's drinks. Well there was this guy a few years older came up to me and started coming on strong. I felt like he was give me some old lines, he said whats a good looking guy like you doing in a place like this. I know it sounds corny now but I was very flattered. I wasn't mean or anything like that, he was very handsome and i sat there with him and we laugh and talk until it was time to go, the club was closing. He fallowed me and my friends to the parking lot, I didn't know what was going on I never went home with anyone I met in a bar or with someone I just met. But he was a sweet guy, looking back I think he wanted a kiss or maybe my phone number but stupid me i got in the car and close the door on the guy. Now fast forward 2 week later after a long day at work, My Bff call me and told me to turn on the television to News and there he was, He's a DOCTOR. He was a guess on a health segment about cancer research. And let me tell you I want to kick myself in the ass. I could've dated a Doctor... I swear I went back to that club every saturday night for three months hoping to see him but i never seen him after that. Cut to me feeling like an Idiot for playing hard to get. Moral of this story is If a handsome stranger come up and want to talk to you, take the time to get to know this person. I fuck up, I could have been married to a DOCTOR (smile) , And i will never forget that. (p.s) I was at my folks house for dinner and i told my mom i met this guy and we could've dated and her reaction was WTF? What the hell is wrong with you. Got back and find him :-)lol I found out later after a lot of investigating because i couldn't let it go, I found out he's from Florida and a Real MD. Goddamn It!!!!!

Aww Yes! The Gay Bars, I remember it well. I was 22 years old before i got the nerve to go to one. I always had a fantasy of what a gay bar was like, Full of hot guys looking for boyfriends. Well my bff had just got a new car and we decided to go to our first gay bar over a 100 miles aways because we didn't want anyone we knew to see us coming out of the gay bars that were close to where we lived. You know the drill, I saw you coming out of the gay bar last saturday night. Well I was nervous and full of anticipation , worried about if i'd measure up to all those other guys in a gay club.I had this insane notion I was gonna meet mr. right and we'd fall in love and move in together play house. It was something right out of a movie or a fairy tale. Well what had happen was (lol) When we got to our first gay club I seen some of the same people i was hoping I'd never to see, The middle school principal kissing his twink boyfriend, The town most eligible bachelor on the dance floor dancing like he's on Soultrain , We seen them but pretend we didn't . Sure I met some guys in there but Nothing like what I fantasize about. Those guys were just looking for sex, I was bought jello shots by one guy than he ask me if I would set on his face, NO THANK YOU. The next few guys I met were only interested in my dick size, I passed on those also. It was like a meat market. I had to go through a few gay clubs before I found one I liked, it was the kind of gay club that welcome everyone, even the straight girls who are just looking for a place to dance and have a good time without the straight guys trying to get them in bed. But I can honestly tell you I've never dated or hookup with anyone I met in a gay club. I've met guys on the street at the mall, places like that

All those method are well known to almost all guys. The problem is whichever method you use, you always (no exception) end up meeting unattractive guys who lie about themselves and their life to better market themselves and compensate for lack of good looks. Basically you end up meeting unattractive men who are financially, mentally, and emotionally unstable and lie too!

Thanks for this. One suggestion before going out to meet other guys is to figure out which type of meetup you're looking for. In my experience I've identified 3 types: (1) The Hookup: This seems to be the default, most common type of meeting gay men seek. It's usually a one time encounter with no follow-up desired. (2) Dating: This one's a pretty high bar because a potential partner is going to have to check a few boxes. (3) The Activity Partner: Romance and sex are not the main theme here. In fact, an activity partner could be a straight guy -- someone who just shares a single or a few hobbies. Once you've identified which type of meetup you're looking for, you'll probably improve your odds by thinking about where you'll meet that person. I met a straight activity partner at a photography show, for example. I lived in San Francisco for 15 yers and never met a prospective boyfriend at a bar but years later, in another town, I met a guy who I got into a 7 year relationship with at a bar -- so you never know. I should say I first met him at a gay event, so meeting him at the bar was just a happy coincidence. I doubt I would have make first contact at the bar, though. On volunteer things, I think it's best if they have a short duration. I was on the board of a gay organization for years and none of the other members were prospects. But if any of them had been, that would have been a good place to get to know them. But I would opt for a short duration event, like someone else mentioned -- serving meals at Thanksgiving.

Well, first I would suggest you do more of the things you like to do and find other people that also like to do them. That's just a generally good idea in life and increases your chances of meeting someone special that shares your interests. If you want to go at the challenge directly, there are plenty of apps out there that are about meeting new people and going on dates, not just sex. Tinder, Chappy, Hinge, etc.... try out a couple, be honest about who you are, and what you're looking for, and see if you can score some dates. It's not going to be any less brutal that dating in real life, some say it's even worse. I say just keep in mind there are always more people to swipe through and don't take it personally when someone ghosts on you, and you'll be ok.

I'm nervous going to a gay bar. I go to clubs that are coed because I love diversity both gay and nongay, men and women having a good time at a club. I'm not sure if a club that specifically caters to gay men would provide that same level excitement, since it's so biased.

Gay bars can be really fun in ways you may not be able to find at straight bars. A lot of them are great dance spots, you can find drag shows, go-go boys, and of course, lots of gay guys :-) I definitely recommend you check a few out and while you may not find the full coed experience of a club, you may find something else you like.
