I've just picked on this 2018 video, it's kicking my 74 year old brain into gear. Now learning tunes has become one sight easier. Thank you.

You are one of the best instructors I''ve ever come across. I have suffered through years of "Lets play that again and concentrate more on your timing " statements from boring teachers who would only teach sight reading .Augh !

You prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my brother for the last few months xD

I finally started taking lessons in my 40s and my instructor started me with this one and I did pretty decent with it. Going just by my ear on the next, All of Me, has been kicking my butt I can’t figure it out in its original key, let alone modulating it to other keys! Off to the shed.

Wow Scott, you’ve really helped me in understanding breath flow! I was taking big breaths and fading flat in the end. I’m a beginner and in my senior level. This is my favorite instrument and I’m enjoying your lessons. Thank you, Donnie W.

Thanks Scott. Excellent instruction. Love that song - try it slow and mournful. It's a crowd pleaser. A comment for your students: if you take listening to the tunes a step further and learn to sing the tune, you will have an easier time memorizing tunes. It is best to get away from sheet music as soon as you can. Learning to sing the tune gets you away from sheet music.

I thought I had seen all your videos and I just stumbled on this. Really helpful and I love the concept. For me, I struggle with memorizing songs. However, I started to learn them by ear and that went away. Granted, it takes a lot of work to learn a song by ear but it seems to program the song into my brain. The only thing I cheat with is that I look up the key center for the song. The few songs I have worked out this way can be recalled immediatly. I will try your approach on my next song!

You just tackled my biggest problem. And I had thought of those different ways, but I wasn't sure if I was thinking along the correct terms until you said it. I would say one thing different and that's the arpeggio approach to chords... so, thank you thank you very much

What's up scott..so breaking it down by chords it's a bit more complicated??....what is that emin(maj7) is that where the d# comes in? I'm trying imporove on stuff..i'm trying to remember chords..just practice...and repetition..can u do a bebop charlie parker tutorial..or is it too far head..thank you..buddy..ur a great instructor..i'm spending at least 2 hrs of practice where i can..t.y.
@ScottPaddock5 жыл бұрын
Hey! If you know your chords memorizing music is even easier, because all the notes are generally based directly on that chord. The D# come over a B7 chord which is B D# F# A. I've done a few Charlie Parker tutorials, but I'll definitely do some more.
