There’s a really helpful app for iPhone/iPad I’ve been using called DialogMaster Pro, which allows actors to record each character’s lines in the scene, or break a long monologue into smaller sections, and it can repeat playback for as long as you like. It can even play in the background when other apps are open or the screen is off. Each recording in the timeline is tagged to the character it belongs to in the scene, and it allows you to skip unwanted recordings in playback or group smaller sections together to focus on specific areas instead of the entire scene at once. Once you know your own character’s lines, it will allow you to silence the audio for your character but still play the other characters lines, so that way you can rehearse your scene with all the characters in the conversation but you’re no longer being assisted with the audio of your lines playing in the background. Only the other characters lines will cue you like a normal rehearsal, and you fill in the gaps by saying the lines yourself... So, not only does it help with memorizing lines, but it also helps you rehearse the scene with all the other characters talking. You can rehearse an entire scene or script without having any other scene partners in the room.

I love the Image memorization method, very helpful! Also, it’s important to memorize your lines ASAP. That way you can spend more time on character development, given circumstances, and rehearsals in the space. An old mentor of mine said, “Memorization should be the easiest part of an Actor’s job”. Simply because there is so much more to acting than memorizing!

I wanna start acting but don't know how or where to start, I heard Stagecoach was decent and there's one like 10 minutes away from where I live down at the school but I don't really know what they do there. I also don't know how to tell my parents seeing as I've already applied for college, they may also not understand and may think I doing it for fame. I want to do it for entertaining people, that's also why I want to be a singer/song writer also!

Hi! This video was really helpful and I gained a lot of tips so thank you for that! I have just got a very big role in a professional play and the role has a lot of big paragraphs to learn one after the other. I'm finding it really difficult to remember what to talk about. The paragraphs are mostly the character narrating and telling the audience about different character and about what she thinks during different situations. This is also a musical and I'm finding myself getting confused about what song comes where and what scene comes next and who the character is talking about. Sorry for being difficult but do you have any tips for this???
