Steve thanks for all the work to develop this tool. Looking forward to trying it. Question. With the demo VM in the video, how much time did the migration take to complete in real time? I am assuming the video was not showing the process in real time.

It was pretty close- might have cut a second here or there, but the process has always been between 4-6 minutes tops for the end user :)

i think this would solve my problem with v7 migrating hybrid to same tenant. mine gets stuck after a reboot after unjoining the domain. wil give this a try. need this to the remaining 2.5k hybrid devices

worked on my domain-joined vm. i did change the length of the password for the user "MigrationInProgess" as our minimum password is set to 14 characters minimum in the GPO

Hi Stevie, thanks for the content. Can the device remain with the same device name after the migration? We have a naming convention for our devices and it is important to retain the same name.

Yeah- the name is captured in the first script and stored in the registry. You could simply add a line in the "reboot.ps1" script to pull it from registry and do a Rename-Computer :)

Thanks Steve for your awesome content, using these in may lab and at work frequently :) one question: I assume we are using a hybrid user(sourced in AD and synced to M365) to sign in before and after the migration ? if not where do we keep the mapping to old user vs new. if we are using hybrid user and migrated everything can we still decomm the Active directory ?

We map to the new user (or destination identity) by prompting the user to sign in during the process. In theory, you can also coordinate a unique GUID via an Entra extension attribute if you were doing this along side an identity and data migration.

Are enterprises ditching AD and going cloud only or are companies sticking with classic AD joined computers?

Most companies are moving to cloud-only joined endpoints. Users objects and other resources will remain on Active Directory for the time being

I'm getting this error: PS>TerminatingError(Invoke-RestMethod): "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request." 2025-01-23 16:22:32 PM - Error setting primary user: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. The script gets completed. 1. Machine is removed from domain 2. Files are migrated to the new profile 3. The device is azurejoined as per dsregcmd/status The device is not showing in Intune

Do I need to add the bulk AAD token to my WCD package file?

@@getrubix I can't add token to WCD package - have tried everything and most methods keep pointing back at microsoft having removed this bulk token option - I'm looking at this solution as basically I know it works but without WCD I'm stuck
