Have you determined the best sequence for moving the user profile and the associated software application? (does it matter?) IE Do you move the user profiles first and then install the associated software application after? I am thinking of all those programs that almost hide app data in the app folders.

Hi, I'm using a temporary desktop as I took the SSD out of my laptop which died. I then put that SSD, with the user profile I want, into an external drive enclosure. How can I tell this app (the one you're using in the video) to grab the user profile from the external SSD rather than from the temporary desktop I'm using to run this app? Thank you!

This looks like a Win10 compatible version of the old Files & settings transfer wizard from yester year - but the old FAST wizard had its issues on occasion - (versions)

Great video Brian. From my past experiences, the issues are generally not with migrating data or the profile, but rather having to install some 100+ programs onto the new PC. For that reason, isn't it better to just clone the drive from the old PC to the new PC? Thanks in Advance.

No, some programs will have issues reading the new hardware as it’s sometimes specific to the previous hardware. Also, imo it’s always best to do a fresh install opposed to cloning

Fortunately, you did not log in with the new user, because then it would have appeared that the settings were not transferred. Neither the registry, nor the desktop, nor the start menu are copied. Only the AppData directory, which does not require a program. What could be causing this problem?

Hi, i just recently subscribed to your channel, think your content is extremely helpful. Just watched one of your older vidoes regarding privacy, and in one of them you showed the steps for DISABLING CORTANA. Being a Windows 10 Home user, having no access to group policy edit, i tried to do it via registry edit, so \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\, after this i was expecting a folder Windows Search, but am unable to locate it, is there something wrong with my pc? Is Windows Search folder there by default OR was it there because before in group policy for Win 10 Pro, u disabled the services? Hoping you can reach out.

Is this the way to go, if I want to setup my new NUC14 Pro Plus to work exactly like my replaced NUC10 Pro, and get Outlook to work with account as well? I have a 500GB SSD in my old NUC10, and a 1TB SSD in my new NUC14, and I will use a Seagate Ironwolf NAS 4TB for transfer of all files between the NUC's.

Are the steps the same? 1.) Save the user profile on the old Windows 10 PC then 2.) Copy the user profile onto the new Windows 11 PC?

I don't see the point in doing this with regular backups or just going tp the user folder and grabbing what I need out of there is super easy to do. I am a Computer Service Technician so I do this on the daily. And besides if you have to reinstall windows its probably because windows wont boot or is corrupted and wouldn't want those bad user or system files on the need system or hard drive. Since if you cant boot into windows on the computer you want to grab files from this tool is useless you would have to pop in a live windows cd or DVD. or worse case scenario pull the drive out of that computer put in into another computer and pull files off that way. Making this tool obsolete.

I like your videos and watch them from time to time. I have used their tools. They come very handy sometimes. Make sure that the old and new computers have the same versions of the software also that the old computer has a healthy profile. If it is broken in any way, you'll mess-up the new computer, it will bring all the bad things from the old computer. Sometimes is more convenient to transfer the data manually. I like to use it when you need to move a computer to a different domain. Keep up the great work 👍👍 😀

you only need to install once then copy the transwiz files to your flash drive and run it from there.

You dont need to use software you can just copy user profile and then paste

This procedure copies all settings as well, including desktop background, favorites/bookmarks, taskbar settings, installed peripherals/printers, networked drive mapping, etc. Much easier to use this.

I used the free Transwiz version for a friend and all it did was to copy 'Documents' and so on. Nothing I couldn't do with a few clicks. No 'AppData'. Very disappointing.

Microsoft had built in software called windows easy transfer for migrating user profiles but like everything else that was useful in windows seven Microsoft left them out when it went to windows 10. As usual Microsoft doesn't give a F_CH about consumers. Do yourself a favor and switch to Linux Mint.
