Nice video. Can you say what the UCG Max temperature and CPU utilisation looks like? My UCG Ultra typically sits at 38 centigrade and I suppose averages 40% CPU, with a 140mbps connection, about twice as many devices, VPN server and no Protect. It varies between 10% to 80%, so I have a feeling the Max, with the exact same CPU as the Ultra, may struggle when I get 1gbps connection and possibly Protect.

Thanks! Yes, runs hot. Also about 40% CPU, 80 degree Celsius :) it’s in a closet but otherwise it’s air conditioned. Honestly, that seems very hot to me. Not sure why. I know it’s meant to be on a desk and that might help. I am running protect and adding additional cameras weekly to stress test it. However, I will say my internet speeds on 1 gig are fine.

@@ApexOneTech Yes. I think it has a small fan compared with the ultra, which should help, but the 2.5GBE ports and SSD would generate a lot more heat. Even if it is designed for temps like this it makes me nervous. I prefer more headroom. So I have replaced my relatively new Ultra with a UDM Pro to get started with Protect. This may actually work out cheaper to use a 3.5" HD than NVME.

I have 2 gig internet... What could I expect in terms of performance with intrusion protection enabled?

I believe the UCG Max can only deal with 1.5Gbps throughput so you're not going to get more than that. You'd have to go up to a UDM of some variant to get a minimum of 3.5Gbps routing capacity to get full 2 gig speed.

As others have said, 1.5 G with full detection turned on. You could limit the threat types and see if you get higher throughput. But really, you need to go UDM.
