100Mbit connection isn't saturated, but it is garbage for latency. Latency is actually very important for this specific camera, but Unifi didn't care. Saving $5 per camera by not going Gbit was terrible. There is no fixing the autotracking or PTZ stuttering issues with software updates.

Hey, there is a question that I have been searching but have no answer to. I have a small home (100sqm), connected endpoints are: 1 laptop 1 PS5 1 TV 1 U7 Pro AP (Do I need an injector or anything) 3 G5 Turret Ultras My internet is giving me 3 gbps but I want to future proof in 5 years. There are 2 ways I can consider 1. ISP > UCG Max > 8 PoE switch > 3 G5 Turret Ultras + 1 U7 Pro Max AP 2. ISP > UDM Pro Special Edition > 3 G5 Turret Ultras + 1 U7 Pro Max AP I am not sure if this setup is deployable. Any help is appreciated!

Great video. I have 10Gb FTTH. 7Gb in real world. 8 Annke PoE cameras into an Annke NVR. 4 floors. It is a house/home installation. I would like wifi on each floor. About 80sqm per floor. How would you deploy? Would you use the DM SE? Or the MAX? I do not want cloud subscriptions. I just want to be self contained, but I would like the NVR to be stored in a secure room away from the network core.

Nice video. Can you say what the UCG Max temperature and CPU utilisation looks like? My UCG Ultra typically sits at 38 centigrade and I suppose averages 40% CPU, with a 140mbps connection, about twice as many devices, VPN server and no Protect. It varies between 10% to 80%, so I have a feeling the Max, with the exact same CPU as the Ultra, may struggle when I get 1gbps connection and possibly Protect.

Thanks! Yes, runs hot. Also about 40% CPU, 80 degree Celsius :) it’s in a closet but otherwise it’s air conditioned. Honestly, that seems very hot to me. Not sure why. I know it’s meant to be on a desk and that might help. I am running protect and adding additional cameras weekly to stress test it. However, I will say my internet speeds on 1 gig are fine.

I believe the UCG Max can only deal with 1.5Gbps throughput so you're not going to get more than that. You'd have to go up to a UDM of some variant to get a minimum of 3.5Gbps routing capacity to get full 2 gig speed.
@ApexOneTech
@ApexOneTech 8 күн бұрын
As others have said, 1.5 G with full detection turned on. You could limit the threat types and see if you get higher throughput. But really, you need to go UDM.

Adding PSE would increase internal heat a LOT - it would likely self-destruct. The power transformers in particular for PSE are the primary problem - they usually need some sort of heat dissipation on them.

Ooh tell me more about the USB switcher. We have a USB licence key that is forever getting swapped from workstation to workstation. We only ever need one user at a time so we're within licence terms but its unnecessary wear and tear on the USB key and ports. Never knew you could get USB to ethernet adapters, I guess there's the same setup on the workstation ends so each workstation has 2xethernet, 1x for connection to LAN and the other for USB extender? The key can only push to one workstation at a time and not 1 to many I guess.
@ApexOneTech
@ApexOneTech 8 күн бұрын
Correct. Workstation needs to have two Ethernet ports. This place mostly had it because people work hybrid. So when they need the key, they press a button in the SwitchBot app to switch the key to their workstation. The usb switch has an IR remote. Then you add a SwitchBot hub that has an IR emitter next to it. You add that usb selector remote to SwitchBot and there you go. Let me know if you actually need this and I’ll get you links to the exact products.

Question. What if your current router is at 192.168.1.1? Can I make the Cloud Gateway 192.168.1.2 during setup to avoid conflicts? Thje router will be put into AP mode
@ApexOneTech

Your cloud gateway show be your DHCP server, that assigns the IP addresses it the devices connecting to the network. So I would set your new gateway to 192.168.1.1 or even something else like 192.168.10.1

So my current setup is a Zyxel USG110 router going to a 24 port POE switch, and from that comes out my Unifi Gen 1 Cloud key and 2 access points. Am I understanding that this UCG MAX would replace my Zyxel, and Cloud Key? If so, can I transfer my customizations I made to my Zyxel to this as I have a static IP and need to access things within my network from outside?
@ApexOneTech
@ApexOneTech 8 күн бұрын
Yes, it’ll replace your cloud key and your router. Just setup your cloud gateway max with the same settings or whatever settings you need. Since you’ll be replacing both your router and cloud key, I would set up the UCG Max from scratch. You can backup some UniFi application config files though if you’ll like and restore to the UCG Max.

Im looking for a setup for home security. Im thinking 7 cameraes. 1 dorbell and 2 wifi routers.. my plan is using a CG max 1TB and a lite 16 pos switch. then there is ekstra ports for internet in rooms aswell. does it sound like a viable solution??
@ApexOneTech
@ApexOneTech 8 күн бұрын
If you only need Unifi for camera security, and not networking, you can consider the CloudKey+ or UNVR instead. The NVR is room for full size hard drives and can work with your existing, non-UniFi network. However, if you want ongoing full UniFi, this cloud gateway max would great. Just realize that if you turn on 24/7 recording on all the cameras you listed, the 1TB won’t give you much playback history. I haven’t put 7 cameras on the UCG Max yet so I can’t tell you how many days of footage you’ll get. But, if you’re okay with only recoding smart detections, then this would be a perfect solution.

Hello: I have set up an Access point u6+ from the mobile phone and everything is ok. I have configured it "stand alone", and I access perfectly from the Unifi app, but it has assigned the ip to the device 192.168.1.135 and I want to change it but from the app it does not measure the option and if I try to access from a browser to the address 192.168.1.135 it does not leave me although it does respond to a ping.
