Hello, watching your video. Any recommendations after your season of milking a doe with precocious udder? I have been debating starting to milk my doe. Thank you fir your time!

Hi, I started milking mine mostly because I was worried it sitting too long might cause an infection but since I try for long lactations mine are still milking

Well, I have learned something new! Thanks for the education. I hope I don’t have to milk my crazy babies. You have beautiful goats. I have 4 Nigerian Dwarfs and 2 Nubians. We are really loving drinking our goat milk and eating Chèvre. Do you make cheese? Are you on a family farm? Who does your filming? Great job, thanks!

I mostly make soap but do make cheese for around the house and once out in the barn for a video. It is a family farm and my mom does most of the filming. 🐐

How long does it typically take for the saltiness to go away from milking a goat with a precocious udder? I have a goat with a precocious odor and I've been milking her for just over a week and it's still a bit salty.
@paintedthunder984 жыл бұрын
Get the milk tested for bacteria. Could have e-coli or staph to throw off the taste.

@@paintedthunder98 milk being a little salty from a goat with a precocious utter is normal, they naturally have some saline to help prevent mastitis. The salty taste went away after a couple weeks.

My african pigmy has this issue I'm just finding out and it's been months!! Is she infected!?? Now I'm worried she's infected 😳😒
@marysmilkmonsters2 жыл бұрын
as long as it doesn't smell and the goat is otherwise fine it should be the same as regular milk
@paintedthunder984 жыл бұрын
Why don't you just let the baby dry up and not milk her at all?
@coolcat48443 жыл бұрын
that's what I'd advise. Most sources would say that milking a precocious udder is the last thing to do.
