Thanks for sharing these instructions. It was a bit different for my older Sony Smart TV (KDL-70520A)...but the concept is the same. Make sure your TV is connected to your network, make sure your laptop has Miracast, On the TV, got to Inputs and select screen mirroring, then add your TV to your laptop as a wireless device.

Mandar, I would suggest to try a Wifi dongle like - Anycast for that. Believe me I had such a hard time figuring how to screencast my iphone on to the same TV & in the end I tried Anycast dongle and it worked. Excellent video mate!!!!! Only thing ill say though is it appears that this system itself isnt great. Following all your steps everything went fine, except my laptop simply "couldn't conect". After confirming id done everything correctly i simply tried "Add a device" repeatedly, & after 4 or 5 attempts it finally worked!. Hi Rogerio, I looked for the specs of your TV on - specsen.com/televisions-sony/sony-kdl-32ex525/ & looks like your TV supports DLNA ( Digital Living Network Alliance ), What this means is , you can use a 3rd party device which will be a WiFi device, one end of this device gets into TV USB and other end gets into TV HDMI. Once such device is "Anycast Dongle".I was able to screen mirror my iphone to Sony TV using Anycast Dongle. Frankly, I am not sure sure of the Miracast compatibility on a lot of products. If your laptop has Miracast and the TV has all connectivity capacity, it should work

I had the same problem with my Sony Tv and tech support was clueless. I did manage to figure it out on my own ( only after hours and hours of trying possiable solutions). The Key is IF you are using any web browser on your computer (with your computer being a non apple brand) The computer WILL NOT cast to Your TV UNLESS you are using a google chrome browser. Once you download Google Chrome Browser to your computer you should be able to cast to your tv.

Dimitri, I really dont know if downloaded drivers can work but then trying will do no harm, well Wi-Fi direct is more like using Wi-Fi directly on your TV on apps like Netflix,Skype etc. But yes, You can screen your phone using some apps, for example I used an app to screen my iPhone on my Sony Bravia, but then the screening was limited to media like Songs,Video, MP3 stuff, entire phone was not screening. There is a different way to screen your entire phone. Yes, thats the whole idea because when you are extending the screen on to the TV, you have 2 screens. So you open a movie & then drag it on to the TV screen & keep working on the laptop.

Hello, I just followed this tutorial and I'm following it successfully down to a T until 6:27 (and yes from my PC I have successfully connected to my TV, I get the "remove device" option. The name of my TV even already appeard when I click the "Extend" one). A message could only pop up in my TV (I changed the TV name to "Aliya") IF and ONLY IF I connect to a wifi network name (the SSID of my TV, not the device's name just like you said) in my PC's network list. George I am really not sure why the TV is not connecting to your Wi-Fi , could be a bandwidth issue or something else because i see the model you mentioned is W-Fi ready.. so you get the network error after the TV scans the Wi-Fi shows it and when you try to connect you get the error ?

Rajesh, I have seen a few people getting this error because their TV & laptop are not connected to the same Wi -Fi. so once the method that seems to get us this connectivity is, connecting both TV and the laptop to the Wi -Fi first, I would suggest just go through the video once and see if you missed any step.

Hi Tilak, well frankly I am not sure what could be wrong. If your TV and laptop are both connected to the Wi-Fi it should appear. I had issues in the start as well, however it worked after multiple tries.

It worked for me, but the lag (slow response) from my laptop to my tv was unbearable. So pretty much defeats the whole purpose. No matter if I extend or duplicate. Unless I am missing something. Definitely not my internet connection as that works just fine. Also I have a Sony Bravia tv, so not sure if anybody else has the same issue. Gave this video a thumbs up still because I was able to mirror my laptop to my tv. Just a shame it doesn't perform well enough.

I have tried this multiple time with Surface to Sony Bravia. The problem seems to come after I am connected to WiFi and then select WiFi Direct. The TV disconnects from WiFi. Then they will not shake hands even though they both recognize the other device.

Hey buddy I'm not getting the connect to the wireless display option when I hit Windows P button, I have managed to manually connect my TV following your instructions but the connect to the wireless display option is not there, please help.

Thanks for the quick reply, first of all I'm not going to rest till I connect my laptop wirelessly to my Sony Bravia hehehe, I do have HDMI cable but want to do it wirelessly, secondly the dxdiag revealed that my laptop supports Miracast, it had the word supported in front of Miracast. I followed all your instructions(by the way I have Windows 8.1) and when I reached the part where you press windows P it doesn't show connect to the wireless display at the bottom, like yours does. So instead of pressing Windows+P I right swipe and click on Devices then I click on Project and in the next screen where I get the various screen options like extend the screen, I ignore them and click the message at the bottom that says connect to a different display, and in the next page there's an option of add a wireless display, I click on it and then it looks for a wireless device and ends up showing something called MYCast59... now I don't know whether this device is being wirelessly detected from a neighbours house or whether this is actually located inside the Sony TV Bravia. Something came up and I had to run some errands so will try and connect later, but I wasn't able to connect like you do in this video.

I'm at my wits end, the device shows connected on the Sony tv Wifi direct mode, it shows 1 device connected please send content from a connected device, then on my laptop it shows installing Bravia and then after installation on the laptop it again goes back to the message Please connect from Wi-Fi device on TV display. I can't wrap my brains around what's going wrong.

Well,I would recommend, first ensure that Bravia is connected to Internet WiFi because if that keeps dropping its an issue & I dealt with that damn problem for quite some time, Now i read your comments, when you hit the project button why dont you go for the extend option instead of other option, the extend option should also give you the wireless devices around you. And yes you need to find out what is your device name by going to network settings.

I have clicked on the extend option several times it does nothing just turns the screen blank for a second and then goes back to being normal again, on my TV screen even when it shows 1 device connected please send contend from the device, but whatever I do on my pc nothing happens to the screen, I've been at it for the 6 or 7 hours, mind you I'm connecting on my TV through the Wi-Fi Direct mode, but like I said nothing happens. and I think the Bravia is connected to internet wifi, as in both the TV and PC are on the same home network that I use for internet. I have tried everything now but it's not working for me. What else would you suggest.

I'm having sometrouble with this. Searching for devices doesn't not give me my TV. I'm even able to connect with the TV's Wi-Fi as if it were a regula wi-fi, but with no connection to the internet

The connection is intermittent initially,but if the TV doesnt connect to the WiFi, this mirroring wont work at all.

Yes you can as long as it has Miracast drivers

You can try disconnecting devices from the TV and then adding them once again.

my tv doesnt have wifi and insteaad i have ethernet. is there a way i can connect if i have it connected to my router. i how ever can cast video files via windows meia player and am just wondering how i can extend second screen, if there is a way

I think in this situation you will have to connect the TV & the laptop using a VGA cable to use the TV as secondary screen

Thanks man i do use HDMI, wireless could be cooler. will have to get the wifi dongle for the tv

Yes, I used HDMI myself once just to see how it work & it worked like a charm, absolutely no lag..
