How To Mix Thistle Bonding by Hand ( small amount )

This is a quick video showing how bonding is mixed by hand quickly for small jobs such as patching or beading I show how I mix the bonding plaster which is used over a wide range of backgrounds such as plasterboard and block and more . Mixing plaster to the correct consistency is crucial in obtaining good results it is all in this mix
Mixing the plaster
All mixing equipment should be cleaned before use to prevent contamination.
Pour the required amount of water into the mixing bucket (see selector chart for details). Only add clean water and do not use any additives.
Add plaster to the water and mix by hand or a slow speed, high torque mechanical whisk.
Thistle plasters should be mixed to a smooth creamy consistency. There is no need to continue mixing after lumps have been dispersed. Over mixing can affect setting times and cause difficulty in achieving a flat finish.

I have plaster raised on the bedroom wall, i blame the plaster being like this because well i have two causes. 1. the wall didn't get wiped dry after i took wallpaper off and 2. the bookcase didn't get dried properly when i put it up against the wall. You make this plastering job look easy. An EXCELLANT video.

Hi Siobhan it dose get easier the more you do it but will always be a physical job , it sounds pretty accurate what you say .... did you also use a bonding agent before you plastered it?

To be more honest. I haven't don't anything yet as i never plastered before and i'll watch your EXCELLANT video a few more times just so i'll get it right. What would be the best bonding agent to use?

You could use thistle bond it the day before or on the same day there is super pva i think is evo stick I show it at start of this vid = kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5exfZKJgduDeLc there is meany to chose from but just be sure to read them before using

After bonding in a few deep holes in the plaster, do i need to put bit of multifinish plaster over after once it dries too? Also, Do we need to use mesh?

@@tanzirahmed63 mesh if you think that it might crack or if it had joints as in plaster board and a little multi skim would finish it well

macplastering yeah this bonding looks a bit thicker to the finish mix from the looks of it here :-) but ive seen the colour and texture you make on the finish batches and they always look right when wet and when dry :-D but yeah cant agree more, that does look harder to get right :-)
