How To Mix With Just A Compressor

Mixland’s Vac Attack is an analog-modeled optical limiter plugin that’s intended to control the dynamics of individual tracks and groups. The vacuum tube saturation circuit introduces harmonically-rich warmth and character to vocals, drums, basses, and your stereo bus. Vac Attack is based on the coveted hardware unit Vac Rac TSL-4 that was discontinued in 2020 and has since skyrocketed in value. The plugin was developed by Grammy-award-winning mixer Jesse Ray Ernster and Eddie Lucciola. The THD has some aliasing and the oversampling doesn't work very well, other than that, pretty cool sounding plugin

this limiter is awesome! Really fell in love with the demo of Faraday Limiter from ghz but it is too expensive. I have a PA subscription... so i think the Vac Attack is a pretty decent compensation for that.

Sidechain filter makes compressor react less to filtered frequencies, it still compresses whole signal, since it's not multi-band compressor.

The sidechain filter also allows for you to make the compressor react more to those frequencies too, so you can choose if you want the compressor to react more or less to those frequencies.

For some more context on the push filters, the J and E switches adjust the center frequency of each push filter. The LF push filter toggles between 52 Hz (J) and 230 Hz (E). The HF push filter toggles between 4.4 kHz (J) and 10 kHz (E). These setting are named after the plug-in’s creators (J)esse Ray Ernster and (E)ddie Lucciola, each representing the go-to frequencies that they like to push.
