Saving this one for later. Modeling a curve, laying down vertices, and making quads are some of the most basic Blender skills, but using them effectively is a whole other challenge. This shows techniques for reaching a result I'd have trouble getting to on my own.

They delete the original face (X, only faces option), then select an edge on one side and hit F repeatedly which will create a quad with the nearest two verts.

Nod bad, but this is the hard way to do this. If you're doing a study on ornaments, this is the way to go. Otherwise, displacement maps do a good enough job.

With this, you can probably cheat by converting it to a heightmap. You won't have fancy quads, but you'll have a viable geo you can bake AO into and use as a game asset, in less than half th etime.

@Dhieen9 ай бұрын
why do you us ecurves at the beginning when you could just model directly in vertices?
@CG_VOICE9 ай бұрын
Curve gives more flexibility as well as you can increase or decrease resolution during modeling. Hence I like to go with curves sometimes.
@Dhieen9 ай бұрын
@@CG_VOICE Yeah i know but then you convert it to a low poly version, it would have been faster in this case to directly model it vertice by vertice And there is even a faster way where you create curves and give them a depth (in the bevel panel, inside the object data properties) and clikc on "profile" to have a nice sharp model, then you can scale it down on the Z axis; you have less control than directly modeling but its way faster, so depends on the needs
