First of all, THANK YOU! Your guide got me 99% there and I bought the exact parts you did for my Yoga Flame SF2 cab and a Super Console X Pro. I couple of things I didn't see in the video that may help people: 1. You must plug in your HDMI LCD Controller board in order for it to work! In my case, the plug from my Arcade 1Up which used to go to my PCB board worked fine. 2. The position of the joysticks matters! I spent more time than I'd care to admit trying to understand why one of them kept registering up as down and down as up. I assumed you could just configure it in the software and it wouldn't matter. WRONG. Hope these updates help someone!

Awesome video. Thanks a lot for doing these very in depth instructions. Personally I'm familiar with about 70% of what you're showing BUT there are so many people that are just beginning and need this level of tutorial. When it comes to building your library for use on emulators and front ends I certainly struggle so this approach of yours is VERY APPRECIATED. Honestly I like the comic book look of your set up but I really prefer the hyperspin look. It's the only thing keeping me from buying your card as I just don't have time to fool with stuff. I just want plug and play. Keep up the great work man and I may just say the heck with it as being picky about a front end is being, well, picky. And I don't like being picky lol.
@RetroGamingGuy

Haha totally understand! You can actually change the theme here. This is just the default theme but there’s over 200 themes to choose from. I’d have to check hyperspin specifically but I’m almost positive it’s in there. I’ll link you to our video on changing themes it’s really easy but often overlooked. There’s also some cool arcade1up themes which I haven’t got too far into but I did demo one here on the channel.

Dude thank you! I have the final fight and mk2 cabinets. I was staring the final fight buttons down for a while trying to figure out how I would fit 6 buttons.. then I looked at the mk2 and said screw it this is much less work! Its got 5 buttons. Then watching your vid i was dreading the hole for the select button but saw you popped them on the side - BAM! So much easier. Might throw in 2 buttons on both the sides as extras.

Hey man great video, helped a lot! I’m about to get a MK cab for my birthday pretty soon and I wanna do some modifications but I have a few questions. So for the raspberry pi, would I be able to find one online with like almost all the games you have?? I’m really interested in that and were you able to play like MK deception, deadly alliance and Armageddon? And a thing about the control panel. The only modifications I want to do that is change the buttons to light up and maybe if I have enough money after my birthday then get a new control panel (art wise). But I’m sorry for the questions I’m just really trying to get the best I can get. Last question, does the raspberry pi run all the Arcade1up games?

hey there, happy to help! Yeah I have cards available that would work with an arcade1up mod. In fact the 512gb card actually have a collection entirely dedicated to arcade1up games but there's way more than that available. The one used in this video is the 256gb card but the 512gb card is the latest card with more capabilities. It has less games but that's only because of there's more later releases which take up more space. Below are links to each card tour. I'd have to check on mk deception, alliance, and Armageddon but I'm pretty sure they all work. I have full game list pdfs too I could send you if you just reach out to us by email and request them. 256: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKiVl6Cdirl5rtU 512: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6ayaoKio8h5kNE

I don’t believe either are compatible. You may be able to wire in the joystick and buttons into the encoder somehow but honestly they aren’t really good enough to make it worth the extra work in my opinion. You’re better off just grabbing a kit to swap everything out. Link in description for a kit. The amp is needed to control volume. They’re only about $15 or so

Hi, I think this is a very good video showing how to modify the Arcade 1up cabinets. I am new to this but I would like to try to modify my cabinet. What was missing for me was how to actually get the games onto the SD card, like where I find the games, and how to get them on the card. Do you have a video showing how to do this? I keep searching for a video like this but all I get is the actual modification without showing how to find the games and how to install them on the card. your response will be greatly appreciated.

Parts can usually be tough to find. I've run into that issue myself on multiple occasions. eBay is the best place to find parts although they aren't very common so you have to wait around a lot of times or buy a broken unit that has parts that you need that aren't damaged. You can sometimes get parts direct from arcade1up but they generally aren't cheap and they're not the easiest to get in contact with.

@RetroGamingGuy

I do believe the 4 is the better and certainly more updated version. It gives you access to more game collections and would be more usable with newer emulators. The other side of it though is if you are happy with the performance of the 3 then maybe the if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality is the way to go. Just depends on what you are looking for. N64, Dreamcast, PlayStation, and PSP runs better on the pi 4. Beyond that I do believe the rest of your collections perform pretty much the same way.

Oh on a outrun a1u? Are you going to be adding buttons and joysticks in place of the wheel or keeping it as it is? I'm not sure if the wheel would work with retropie. A lot of usb wheel controllers do work with retropie but it's a little hard to set up. IF it did work you would only be able to play racing games and I would imagine it would be the older one not the later titles like cruisin world etc. Just off my personal experience with wheel controllers they are very touchy to get working well. They tend to be great for outrun and those 80s-mid 90s racing games but n64 and up I've had a lot of trouble with getting the wheel to work well.

The joystick goes to the encoder which connects a usb to the pi itself

Shut down from within your main menu to sfaely shut down the system but then use the on/off switch on the power strip in the back to cut the power to the unit.

One of the best options they have actually. That’s already set up with 6 buttons and the start buttons. I would replace the buttons and joysticks which is super easy. You wouldn’t need to drill a single hole in your control board which is great. Makes for a really easy mod. You will need to add select buttons but those buttons come in a kit with the other other buttons. You could drill holes into the side of your cabinet like I did in this video which is way easier than having to take apart the control board completely drill out holes then drill out the same holes on the deck protector. Lots of room for error with that. The side of the cabinet can be done in 10 mins and looks good if you ask me!

I just did a mod on my capcom vs marvel box. I have no sound and I can’t seem to setup the hot key properly. I added the 2 extra coin buttons. I already screwed one SD card trying to configure shit I had no idea. Any help on the above? Thinking about putting new speakers and direct wiring to the Pie and not using an amp. Anyone in Los Angeles do house calls?
@RetroGamingGuy
@RetroGamingGuy 2 жыл бұрын
You'd need a way to control volume levels though. Did you change your audio source to headphones or speaker? The pi 4 always struggles with audio the first time sometimes you need to cycle through powering it on and off a few times for it to get the connection.

@@RetroGamingGuy I just connected external speaker directly the pi and it worked. The cabinet speakers weren’t working . I had to splice them and I don’t think they connected well to the amp. I may try again later; and see if I can control the volume from the pi or the amp. So everything there seems ok now. I don’t think I’m supposed to Setup a hot key, cause I could never back out of a game after I set up a key. I’m just going to let it default to select and see what happens. My sd card would only load 1 out 10xs trying so I’m waiting on another one . I think I messed with some settings and corrupted it. Wish me luck!

Can this be Done on the simpsons arcade1up and how do you get the games on
@RetroGamingGuy
@RetroGamingGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can but you're going to want to add additional buttons to that control board since Simpsons only has 2 buttons for each player plus joystick. May run into some of the restrictions I had here where there just wasn't a lot of room to accommodate more buttons but certainly can be done. You would need a raspberry pi 4 computer board, a cooling fan case, and a SD card with retropie and all the games installed on it. Check out our site we have cards with everything on it ready to go. Just insert into a pi 4 and follow this video and you're golden.
