Great video! So glad you made it, +1! Keep the Runescape references coming. I agree with everything you said except @3:40, Evo X guys will all tell you NOT to go with off the shelf tunes such as Cobb, you need to go open source. Instead of a Cobb AP, go get yourself a Tactrix cable and a good reliable tuner. These cars are quite picky when it comes to tuning *especially* with flex fuel systems. For your limit, the target numbers are around 550hp/400tq, keeping your torque below 400 is really the key here that's when things start to go wrong. Other things worth mentioning: -If you're doing anything more than bolt-ons, upgrade to ARP head studs. These cars are very boost happy, any support to prevent lifting the head is worth its weight in gold. -The transfer cases can kinda suck, upgrade to ShepTrans and you're good to go. -2008 Evo X's have a timing chain issue, if you get one of this year, you need to upgrade this to avoid jumping timing. -If you live up north the AYC pumps are susceptible to failure due to salt exposure. there is a relocation kit to put it in your trunk, this can save you thousands of dollars. -REPLACE. YOUR. FUEL. RELAYS! It's quick and cheap! -Square setups ONLY! Do not stagger your wheels! Good luck with your Evos guys!

What about a Cobb pro tune from Surgeline? They';re in my backyard.. but so is English Racing.. Not looking to make tons of power, just want a full intake + full exhaust + i/c upgrade + supporting mods (radiator, catch can, etc) and tuned for 92
@jeremysteinacker4889 Жыл бұрын
Stock motor has been taken over 730whp, but generally 6XX is the recommended stopping point. 400wtq + a little if it comes in later in the rev range is the real limiter. EBCS is a must when modifying. For e85 you will need at least 1300cc injectors and ideally a 450 in the tank. plenty of stock frame turbo upgrades that can be had relatively inexpensively. and for coilovers do NOT buy bc. Ohlins R&T are the gold standard coilover for a street evo and only a couple hundred more than FA510's but so much better. Do not buy a cobb accessport. I repeat DO NOT BUY A COBB ACCESSPORT. You will blow your car up. Get a tactrix cable and an opensource tune with Tephra v3. That's the only way to get Flex fuel on stock ecu anyway. For wheels get a +22 to +15 offset, the stock +38 is terrible and so sunk into the car. 18x9.5 is best fitment but you can fit 10.5's if you roll fenders in the rear and remove liners. Overall the Evo X is a great car with amazing and precise steering and wicked intelligent AWD system. It just always has grip no matter what you try to do to it. There is a reason that it is faster around a track than an 8/9 while making the same power and weighing 300lbs more. My evo x is 2.2L fully built manley stroker, built trans, built head with kelford 214-c cams, ets t4 twinscroll pte6466 turbo kit, fic1650+radium double pumper with dual 450's -8feed -6return lines, tuned on motec m150

I recently bought a 2010 Evo x with Cobb access port (it's) but it's tuned on 93 this car doesn't have the fuel system for e85. It has ets intercooler, synapse blow-off valve, ets intake, speed circuit dual catback, and driven fab oil catch can. What's your best advice in this situation
@jeremysteinacker4889 Жыл бұрын
@@gfilms2722 take it to a reputable tuner to get off the accessport. They will give you a real tune using ecuflash. If they want to tune the Cobb, run away as fast as you can. No good evo tuner will tune on Cobb no matter how much you pay them. If you are planning to do more mods, might want to buy them first. Install them all at once and trailer it to your tuner/ get a base map from them to start tuning.

@@jeremysteinacker4889 know of any good tuners in Illinois?! And do u need to purchase any new device for tuning or will them getting me off the acessport and new tune be good enough

The previous owner comment is so damn true 😅 The very first day I bought my used Evo X I put it on jacks for several weeks to fix all the weird crap that was done to it. The amount of hidden issues it had blew my mind, I couldn’t believe how that car did not blow up on the way home from the dealer.

just recently picked up a 10 gsr, only had one owner before and was very well taken care of, 100% stock as well, but i still had to replace a few things like the rear main seal, oil pan gasket and shock absorbers/dampeners for the suspension, so your statement is definitely true; i instantly did an oil change and drivetrain fluid changes because i had no maintenance/service records, and just for me and the car's well-being. i already put a single exit hks exhaust on it and have a few other parts like sone tein coilovers lined up and ready to be installed! the 4b11t is a beast of an engine that more people definitely should to look into more, can handle over 600whp 500wtq completely untouched other than upgraded fuel and airflow, its honestly amazing. though some people get mad at the evo for actually evolving haha

My evo x makes 600 whp Has been one hell of a reliable car. That in oart with how well i maintain it and a great tuner. Had the car since 2015. Almost at 100k miles lol. She has been an amazing car!
@chadcarroll4689 Жыл бұрын
Pretty spot on. Go open source as some has already said for your tune. Try to find one as close to stock as possible. Bought my EVO X brand new and FBO sitting at 430 WHP/395 WTQ for 7 years and car seems to be very happy right there so I decided to leave it alone. Could make it a little more spicier but I feel that’s the sweet spot for a street car build

A few things… Do not use a Cobb on an Evo X. Ecuflash or bust imo. You can’t just buy a flex fuel kit without upgrading your pumps and injectors… I’m pretty sure you’d max your injectors out easily even on the stock turbo… I’ve owned 4 of these cars and I’ve been at 400-450whp and they’ve all been solid so far. :p
@gr04ch01 Жыл бұрын
Good video, but I believe you should’ve included a few parts in your build list. Especially considering you added E85 in there. An electronic boost control solenoid is a MUST. And when running E85, or going for more power whether with a stock turbo or not, a bigger fuel pump (Walbro 450) and bigger injectors (1,000-1,300cc) are good supporting mods to make that sub 400hp more reliable.
@evodudedad2053 Жыл бұрын
ebcs is a must because it makes the tune more reliable and predictable and your tuner will thank you for it.

Bro you’re god damn right with every single word you’ve said. I am still suffering from the stupid previous owner as my engine decided to blow up when I was trying to demonstrate the 2 step launch control, I saw my oily engine rods ashes on the street! Still struggling with the hidden issue but kinda enjoying my very personal journey to achieve a spectacular clean neck breaker Evo x very soon ❤.. Great video bro as I am following you from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦😎👍🏻

Once you start pushing power throw out the stock spark plugs and use racing plugs. The ceramic can break and drop into the cylinder taking out intake or exhaust valves.

I had an FQ-330 I bought and had shipped to the Philippines for around US$76k (Ph₱3.4M in 2010) kept it clean and sold it for nearly the same price in 2014. I regret selling it because it's now worth ₱5 to 6m. Should've just did what I wanted with it.

Younger generations do like the 10 more as it ages. After slapping some wheels on mine even with the wheel gap it’s received a lot of compliments and people pacing it on the highway I assume to just look at it as I have no exhaust or major performance upgrades yet.
