Coming from an actual HPDE instructor: #1 is brakes. This can be the easiest way to ruin your day if you’re on old or stock fluids. Oem pads and rotors are typically fine the fluid is what’s important #2 don’t ball out on tires. As long as you have tread you are fine. Most people can’t even drive a 200tw tire to the limit. Let alone a slick. #3 tow points. If your car does not have tow points the tow truck will use whatever they can and they are not responsible for bent frames, bent arms etc. etc. #4 helmet. Current snell certification, don’t bring a motorcycle helmet. That is the easiest way to get sent home. Race and bike helmets are easy to distinguish you are not sneaky. #5 talk with an instructor. Even if it’s only a talk in the pits or one session where they drive your car is sit passenger. I’ve been instructing for almost 3 years now. I’m certified with NASA and the motorsports safety foundation. I have never had a student not go faster after sitting or talking with them. #6 watch the flags. Not paying attention to flags can put you and others in a very sketchy situation if a black or red flag comes out #7 do not miss the drivers meeting. Every event is run differently to some extent and you may be breaking rules on accident without even knowing. #8 talk to the fast guys. Some people are addicts and have probably done hundreds to thousands of laps on that track or in a specific car and they will tell you where all the time is. FINALLY, leave your ego at home. If it’s your first track day, your odds of setting any record is 0.000001%. Use it as a baseline. Learn as much as you can. . Tracking is awesome. And everyone should do it at least once to understand their car better. (I hope this gets pinned to help others)

Love this, currently on the process of getting the car properly running first before I even mod it for the track, a lot of people who I asked, also gave the same advice about getting time in with what you currently have, they said most of the time the skills don't match the car performance

Careful about track tires with your stock suspension. They're designed for normal tires, not meant to handle 1g+ on a track. You might bottom out and spin.

Just need a Snell (insert year) approved helmet. Sure you can have FIA rated ones but only certain ones and pretty much every track looks for Snell (insert year). This is the last year for 2010 and current new ones are 2020 since the 2025 hasn’t come out yet.

@tinyflxme as long as it is emissions compliant in states that check no reason a track car can't be a street car. Some tracks require you to be emissions compliant & have insurance
