I appreciate the video. Just a word of advise to anyone out there that might attempt doing this… in order to form carpet it has to have a polyethylene backing. Don’t make the mistake I did and order 150 dollars worth of Essex carpet only to find out it’s not the right kind to be able to form. If you order from ACC and get the mass backing stuff, it’s nearly impossible to reform it. Because ACC doesn’t always get the carpet sizing right, it’s best to order the carpet that does not have the mass backing. That way you at least have a chance of shaping it as this gentleman in the video has demonstrated. I can’t order a preformed carpet due to changing transmissions and having to enlarge the tranny tunnel and the gear shift placement is different as well. So I’ve placed another order with Texas Foam and Fabric and will attempt once more!

Thank you for this, I'm wanting to do a 100% teardown, and 100% custom rebuild of a car, I had an idea on how this was done, I was right about molding the padding (kinda), but I absolutely love that people like you who have experience, are willing to make videos showing how to do things like this. People who share knowledge are wonderful.

Excellent video! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom, experience, and encouragement with us! I have a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra 429 that my Dad and I restored together many years ago in 1983. Even though it has been parked in a garage and covered with car cover for many years, it is now in need of some new carpet because some mice got into the original carpet. You've given me the courage to try to do this myself! Again, thank you! ~~Christy~~

Thank you! We have a touring car that is just not reasonable for short shopping trips to the nearby village. We talked about it and have now bought an errand car, a Citroen Mon Ami all-electric that recharges using an ordinary house electrical outlet. I chose to not get any of the accessories. Although it has been decades since I reupholstered the entire car interiors (headliner, door panels, seats) I have never installed a carpet. I definitely want a carpet in this little clown car. Since I have laid wall-to-wall carpet in a couple of small houses I'm not a total newbie so I am confident I can manage this. I just needed a guide about the process in order to achieve the best result. Thank you again.

@rockspoon65289 ай бұрын
@@cuberlegend Mine is a 220D so it's the W115 body style, which is a bit different. The principles are the same though, I started by removing the trim and seats, pulling up the old carpet, and cleaning up the floor. In my case, 'cleaning up the floor' meant cutting out most of it and welding in a new floor due to rust.
