My carpet looked like crap a bunch of stains but not ripped no holes. I removed it then power washed it and after it dried spray died it. Looks like a new carpet did that 8 years ago and still looks good.

One thing you can do to make the holes for the bolts & wiring is use a center punch & heat it up & burn the holes in for the bolts & wiring so that the carpet doesn't start to unravel in those spots.

Thanks for making this video, it was an immense help to me. I am replacing the carpet in my Corvette and have purchased a carpet set for it. It fits OK but I'm looking for a better fit than the way it fits now. You have definitely passed on the secrets with hot water, a heat gun and the steamer. I'll try those methods and I'm sure I'll be satisfied.... thank you for posting and sharing your knowledge.

I hate this kind of videos because pros like this guy make them see so easy, but at the end he's telling us to not be afraid of try. I think that is better to pay him as his colleagues, but I'm gratefull for his advice.
@uncleronny6748 Жыл бұрын
That came out really nice. I knew it could be done but never saw anyone doing it even in the upholstery school I took for a year. I was especially impressed by how well you gathered those inside corners where most trimmers would cut/sew. This info is still good to know if you buy a premolded carpet cause it seems like they don't always nail the contours exactly unless it's factory. I gotta get busy and bust out my Pfaff walking foot and give it a try...Thanks

I have always had fairly good luck when removing carpet to power wash it and dye it.... But alot of these tips even apply to reinstalling the used carpet too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Hopefully someday i get to show a professional upholstery guy the work I've done on my 87 s10 blazer, fixing my cracked dash and headliner with a big chunk of purple velvet. Hopefully i can make my door panels work too, but the black material i picked as an accent doesnt conform well at all .... Will just keep going, and take my time until i get it right.

My mom’s Hyundai had an issue with the carpet and she didn’t want to spend $300 on a replacement moulded carpet. For three years, until she finally got rid of it, she drove around with blue bedroom carpet that cost $60 for the off cut. I spent a day and two cans of spray adhesive, with a utility knife and I cut sections to fit the contours of the floor and over the transmission tunnel. I even sewed a leather gaiter for the stick shifter. People commented on the look of it as it was such a bright colour compared to the original.
