Have any of you found a different way to store your FP3 on the newer Softails? Comment below!!!

I found what I think is the perfect location to put the FP3, at least on Sport Glides. Take off the seat and the left side cover. On the left side, under the front section of the seat, look for a metal bracket that has a fat wire bundle running through it. The bracket has a bolt on top of it, holding it in place. Remove that bolt. That will allow you to push the bracket towards the right side of the bike to make the gap large enough to fit the FP3 connector through it. Route the FP3 connector into the left side cover area where the CAN bus connector is. Also, slide the body of the FP3 into the gap of that bracket with the bolt removed. Then replace that bolt. It will give a snug fit to hold the body of the FP3 in place. Before replacing the left side cover, I would recommend wrapping some black electrical tape around the FP3 wires, where they go into the FP3 connector. They are insulated there, but not protected. I wanted some additional protection on them in case they rubbed on the rib inside of the left side cover. Then just plug it in and put everything back together. Let me know what you think of this. I have a couple pictures, but no way to post them here. If you need the pictures, give me your email address or Facebook or some other way to get them to you. Then you can update this video or post a new one. I love all of the status displays that the FP3 can display on my phone. Haven't done any autotuning yet and so far I don't see any reason to.

I posted this on your other video but will repost here as well! I took off both side covers and placed the FP3 from the right side in a small gap in front of the battery, fits really snug there. Then I pulled the ECM plug from the left side to the right, basically on top of the starter, in order to give more slack I cut the zip tie holding everything together. Then plugged in the FP3, nice clean and safe, you wouldn't know it was even in there.

Nice Vid Brother.....I couldn’t tell if it was near a heat source. Finding a place for that thing is always a challenge but it looks like your solution is a perfect fit!

V&H actually released a new video over the weekend for another solutions that I may try. They told me that where I have it should be ok but there is a way to get it behind the right cover. I'll try that for sure!

Had the same issue installing the FP3 on my wife's Sport Glide this summer. Ended up taking the seat off, then found a spot just below the left (facing fwd) frame, zip tied it to the frame with the FP3's long side vertically up. The 6pin can-bus cord has been pushed through a narrow hole towards the front of the frame and slipped down to clip it. It doesn't interfere with the mono-shock and is away from the rear cylinder heat. So far no issues! BTW our bikes (mine is an '18 FLHRC) both have the TAB slip-ons with the zombie baffles!! Great sound!! Installed the Harley SE high flow back kit that uses the same front air cleaner cover... enjoying your videos in Dubai! Merry Christmas!

Thanks for watching! I think my method will work fine. No badly pinched wires and it’s far enough away not to get real hot from the engine. How do you like the Tab slip-ons
@alana.94555 жыл бұрын
@@DCyclemoto The Tab sounds great! The Sport Glide's 2 in 1 sounds better than my RK's 2-1-2 setup... since the tourer's cat is still in. I've used V&H's recommended setup for the FP-3...V&H Pro Pipe, Std baffle. I've tried the competition baffle but at the low end rpm, it is too lean. Here in Dubai, it's riding season now!! Hope you get some chilly but sunny days to ride there in the midwest!! p.s. watch out for those ice patches! Cheers!

Hey thanks for the update D - will take look at V&H website. 👍👌. Still not gotten around to installing my FP3, fitted the Rhinehart end can a few weeks ago but have yet to run it due to no FP3 being installed. Can’t get motivated in Winter - not the best time of year to ride or dabble with motorcycles in cold garages especially HD’s🥶.

Be careful of extended time behind that rear cylinder... heat is not kind to electronics

Did a 300 mile trip and it did fine. Also spoke with Vance & Hines, the FP3 can tolerate heat pretty well.

Take a look at You Tube channel Suffolk Sportglide Rider here in the UK - he managed to fit his FP3 under the side cover. I’m about to install mine on my FLSB and now unsure where to locate it? Thanks for the Sportglide info. It’s a great bike!

Vance & Hines just a released a new video on how to get it behind the right cover. I'm going to try that for piece of mind.

I just flashed my Sport Glide ECU with the FP3. I would also like to permanently install it like you did. It doesn't seem to fit very snug in the spot you used. Did you zip tie it in place? Are you worried about heat, being so close behind the engine?
@DCyclemoto4 жыл бұрын
jimbert50 I have had concerns with the heat but never have had problems thus far. I am considering moving it behind the opposite side cover.

@@DCyclemoto Good idea. I'll look into that too. Harley really packed the wiring in tight.

I just got mine under the seat as well but...didn't zip tie. Wondering if I'm going to have problems with the monoshock. Just loctited the seat screw. Wonder if I'm good or if it'll end up in the monoshock.
