how to mount and pick tweeter and crossover over locations and adjusting in car

So if I'm using all my output ports for a sub and box, where can I run my tweeters from?

@@crdirtrider856 you run a highpass filter (the crossover box the guy talks about) from the main door speakers. Just splice off the speaker wire before the main speaker, connect those wires to the filter and connect wires from the filter's output to the tweeter. The head unit - or whatever's powering the main door speakers - should be powerful enough to run the tweeters without any issue. Door speakers can handle between 45W and 100W a pop, usually around the 45W-55W range. A regular factory head unit will usually put out around 50W per speaker. A tweeter + filter wants between 0.5W and 5W to work. There's plenty of power headroom there.

my car has the tweeters pointed to the front windshield so the drivers side reflects off the windshield towards passengers left ear and opposite for passenger side door. I found this position creates a more robust sound in the cabin at lower sound volumes. my car is a 99 prelude so the front windshield is more angled.

When you pick out a set of tweeters, it is a good idea to find a pair that has a threaded collar on the back. That way you wont have to improvise with tape or foam.

actually my GMC SAVANA van won't accommodate on the pillars...bummer...but I found an apt location under the power window switches that should be fine. Got started last night and Crutchfield had some misinformation about my vehical fit so I'm waiting on re-ship of larger ALPINE speakers for the door panels.

I would use Velcro instead of double sided sticky tape for easy removal when needed. Just make sure it is of quality so it doesn't fall off when it gets hot out....

You do realize that your windows roll down behind the wall where the motor and locking mechanism is located. The crossover will not get in the way on this side of the door.

After one cross over got ruined mounted inside the door i dont do it anymore. I guess water or moisture got to it. Its more convenient in there sure, but not worth the risk imo. Just put em somewhere else

Tape won't last through weathering. Screws and silicone are the best option. Tape will last 3-4 years but if you don't plan on touching it for a long time then it will eventually fall apart.

Keeps the tweeters from making bass, which will ruin their capability to produce clear highs. Likewise it keeps the mids from producing highs, which also reduces their ability to create good mids... etc..

you can just make sure you mount it well and if it's in a door be ware water can get on it and destroy it. also watch your window roll down distance

I try driffrent locations for diffrent tweeter the stock location is not made for all tweeters and putting some there could destroy the sound experience

+swagg so smooth23 i always use baffles to protect speakers and mount crossovers near the amp. No one wants to take off a door panel to adjust a crossover.
