You can buy a ski drill bit from Amazon for $20. Don’t cheep out if you are drilling an expensive ski. Also if the ski has a metal mounting plate you need to tap/ thread the holes before you drive the screws in. Don’t forget a dab of glue to lube and seal ,the screw.

Great video with unimaginable quality. Your ability to explain many easy-to-forget details is amazing. It was really easy to follow but the only problem I have is the skis I ordered "Atomic Backland BC Mini Skis" doesn't appear to have a recommended line. How would I go about finding that?

Posi Drive #3 screw on most bindings not Philips. Dynafit use T drive #20 screws. I have never seen anyone use a vacuum. Just turn the ski over and tap the base with your hand. The particles will fall out.

Excellent video with great guidance - ideal as I am about to mount bindings for first time. I have same bindings and skis! Some say use epoxy glue rather than wood glue- what do you think?

I'm pretty sure that epoxy glue will do the job. But i never had problems with wood glue so i think both work just fine.

Skis are made of epoxy, woven fiber, and a wood core so more epoxy is good. Epoxy works with practically anything. Can also fill in old holes with epoxy to restore the skis integrity if buying used skis and changing bindings

Great video. In english, those angled things are called a chamfer bit, as they make a chamfer on the workpiece :)

Actually you must use the water resistant variant of that wood glue. The only purpose of this glue up, is to prevent water to get into the wooden core and start rotting. I would have put glue into the holes. This is not a thread locker!!! But very good work!

Great Video! I think the only detail that is important with Tech bindings is to put the boot in the toe and ensure it lines up with the heel before tightening. Common issue of getting the Pins missalligned.

Just wondering if all binding holes the same, like as positioning and dimension wise, I want to put my marker griffins on my new skis which have the new make 10.0. Will the holes match up perfectly on close two bindings?

Wontae the hole pattern for a Marker M 10.0 is not the same as the Marker Griffin/Squire/Jester there is definitely a difference in the hole pattern for the heel. The Griffin has a heel plate that goes on first and the heel slides onto it. The M10.0 heel mounts directly onto the ski and the pattern is different. Take it to a Ski Shop and let a Marker certified technician do it with the proper tools.

Are all ski bindings univeral in terms of spacing between the screws? Because i need to get some new bindings but i dont know if i just got any bindings if it would fit on the ski as there are already holes drilled on the ski.

No, most of the time they are different. So you might drill new holes. But make sure you leave at least 1cm of space to the old holes.

Joe Copsey the hole patterns are different depending on the brand and the model. Salomon, Marker, Look/Rossignol, etc and their models will all be different. Ski boot soles are made to standard dimensions and fit these bindings. Be aware that there are several types of sole standards because Alpine Touring bindings use pins that hold the boot toe. ISO 5355 Alpine soles fit bindings for downhill skiing. ISO 9523 are for Alpine Touring/ Backcountry. When mounting or remounting bindings be sure to line up the boot mid sole mark with the manufacturer recommended mid sole mark on the ski for best performance. When in doubt consult a professional ski technician. Bindings are like the brakes on your car so you don’t you want them installed and adjusted improperly.

I have a question. I purchased a pair off used ski's for a good price only problem is when I went to make the bindings longer for my boot the screw stripped. :/ can I just re install the binding to my boot size and be good?

So you mean that you adjust the binding to your boot by drilling new holes and everything right? The thing is that the old and new drilling holes should be at least 1cm apart from each other. And another problem is that there are always tolerances when mounting the binding. So this could not fit right than. I would go to a metalworking place and see if the can fix the stripped screw.

I recently bought a pair of used Rosignals w/ Salomon S9 Spheric bindings & Salomon 226mm boots...The bindings were mounted for an extremely large foot, possibly sized 13 -14 US (I'm size 10 US), so wanted to remount them myself. I measured and checked the boot sole length and found that I only needed to move the (front) toe binding back (toward heel binding), by about a half an inch... Measured, marked & drilled and got everything fairly precise, but then the boot Centerline doesn't quite meet up to the ski's centerline (off by about 1/8")...Is that a big deal, or enough to cause any problems, since it's not quite in the "sweet spot?" Thanks for any advice, or help anyone can lend!!**I'll Sub, if I get some good advice/ a response!! (Prob will sub anyway lol!)

If you’re not a freestyle (park conditions) skier you won’t feel the difference in a bad way. It might even help you stay/float up beter when a snowstorm comes around, because your nose pushes les down in the deepsnow. Be aware that the recommended line (marked on most skies) does not have to be the center line (you wrote about). Cheers!

fistteam being ahead of the recommended boot center line on the ski will make the ski turn more quickly. Being back behind the recommended line will make the ski slower to turn. A few millimeters either way will not drastically effect performance. Better to be more forward than back.
