Looks like you were using your back🙂 I got a free king size temperpedic off craigslist 2 years ago. I had to take it apart at their house and move it out. I'd never done this before but I just took some rope with me and folded it and tied it up tight. Me and my 15 year old son carried it out down their front steps to our minivan. We got it home and almost had it in place when I wrenched my back. Ugh, being the weaker sex is a handicap sometimes. Temperpedic mattresses are super heavy but I wanted to try one without paying a lot since I was having a lot of sleep problems and hip pain. We have to move in a few months. I'm going to have to cut it down to a full size so I can lift it without damaging my 55 year old back. Thanks for the great video!

Two people should normally carry your Sealy mattress flat on its side. It's easier to handle and less likely to get damaged. Don't bend your mattress under any circumstances. * Bending may damage the innerspring unit.
@CleanFreakGermaphobe4 жыл бұрын
Yes as we pointed out in the video this doesn't work for all mattress types. Best on mattresses without springs unless they come in a box. Some specifically state, do not fold. I folded mattresses for 3 years. Different brands. Up to 13 inches thick with springs. Not just one, many of them. Although if you're folding it to take to the dump than it works on all mattresses that are possible to fold!

I use this flipping method a lot to move big items . It works very well, and it means I don't have to wait for the husband or a other people to be available to help. We are going to be helping our daughter move to a new apartment with an external spiral staircase, not sure we can fold her mattress, this is where I regret that she chose the cheaper spring mattress over the slightly more expensive latex mattress... I think we will have to lift it up the rail on the balcony.

@CleanFreakGermaphobe3 ай бұрын
I moved a lot of mattresses, including through tight and narrow halls. You just have to squish the mattress through. It’s hard, especially up steeper stairs, but it’s possible. If it’s too tight leave it flat, put it in its side and put a blanket under it to help it slide.

Thanks for the tip! I have a King Tempurpedic that is clocking in at 115 lbs. It's the only thing I need help with getting down the stairs and this saves me the the hassle of hiring movers just for that. I honestly never would have considered folding it. Now I just need to figure out what type of covering to use to protect it. With my old mattress the cover I bought just shredded right off.

Not for a foam mattress unless you leave it folded. I’ve done it with spring mattresses too, like an Avocado. But there’s a risk that it could cause damage. If it came rolled in a box there’s a good chance you’re ok. I did it for years. But I wouldn’t on a mattress that comes flat.

Really depends on the weight of the mattress. My king size "original mattress factory" mattress with hinge in the middle weights a ton. This isn't possible with this mattress. It took 2 men and 1 woman(me) to get it up a straight flight of stairs and we had it folded in half with ratchets. We currently redid our upstairs floors and we moved the mattress to a room that was already done. Husband isn't home and I'm trying to get it back on the bedframe. It's folded in half and I got it as far as the end of the bed. Can't lift it to actually put it on the bed. I hate this mattress. The next time I move it, it's going to be in pieces and thrown out the window
