Canadian plumber here, looks like you did a pretty good job Jason. Only thing about the sealant around the toilet is to leave a gap at the back so you can know if your wax seal starts to leak before it fills your floor/ceiling full of water.
@Crustycheese946 ай бұрын
I've always just opted to not put a sealant around the toilet but ill consider this method. Don't see why it still wouldn't work
@Iamthathillbilly6 ай бұрын
@Crustycheese94 it has its purpose, I once did a bathroom for a European couple, they wanted the whole thing minus the ceiling tiled so it could be a wet room, the shower had no walls. I siliconed that toilet down. I've also used it when the toilet doesn't want to stay put to hold it in place

What you want is an American Standard Champion series toilet. They have a larger flush valve and better flow design. They can flush golf balls, flip phones, etc. so clogs are pretty much non existent and the price is great. Barely more than what you bought. Next comparable performing toilet is a Toto and costs 2x-3x. Always elongated chair height if it will fit.

Good job on the toilet and handling the plumbing in the floor. When you do the vanity I’d rather see ya open the drywall that will be behind the vanity and make plumbing changes in the wall. Esp if the vanity is not wide open side to side. Maybe even move the toilet supply line over too?

Glad you checked the final height including the finish. When I refurb'd my bathroom I had to include the thickness of: floorboards - concrete backerboard - cement for underfoor heating - heating wire - tile cement and finally tiles, all while smelling the odor of a 100 years worth of p*ss and sh*t through the pipe work.... Most UK toilet waste systems go through the wall and you can gain abit of wiggle room using a 'flexy-pipe'.

@Building_Jays_Way6 ай бұрын
I was under the impression that the flange should sit just above the floor height?
@michaelmiller11096 ай бұрын
@@Building_Jays_Way That was my thought as well, but when I set my toilet I had to shim it up because the flange was too high. I used one of those silicon/rubber rings instead of a wax ring because I knew I wasn’t going to get a perfectly level surface that I feared would create an issue in making a wax ring set correctly.
