You forgot to mention the quick 180-degree turn. Press back on the analog stick (so your inkling turns to face you), then tap the Y button to reset the camera behind your inkling. It'll turn your camera 180 degrees, like the quick-turn in Resident Evil.

elheber That's a bad move though, you'll have to re-adjust your aim which could actually be slower than just turning your analog stick. What you should do is turn the analog stick in the direction you want to turn while also turning your controller in the same direction, making you do a very quick 180 degree turn without needing you to fix your aim.

If imma be honest, no. Just use motion controls, and move your controller instead of mashing buttojs. I get this is is outdated, but you can also just substrafe

1. Avoid jumping UP out of your ink since you make yourself a really easy target. Just emerge from your ink, ink some more, then go back in again. Don't let your feet leave the ground unless absolutely necessary. 2. Avoid retreating to ledges with grating (holes) on them, especially when being chased, since enemies can just as easily shoot you from underneath as your come out of your inked walls. Choose SOLID ledges with no holes underneath as much as possible.

I get a lot of use out of dipping below grating, as long as there is a wall with ink on it below the grating. Off the top of my head, Manta Maria, at Mid, there are points where grating goes over to the central mast of the ship. The grated paths have walls that can be used for ambushing from under the grating, or if you're retreating and haven't been hit yet, you can dip down under the grating and just sit on the wall for a moment. They'd have to go out onto the grating and actually shoot the walls to get you, which opens them up to a sudden ambushing counterattack. I'm no pro player or anything but stealth is something people tend to forget is a huge part of the PvP in this game.

Here's a tip. Don't jump when you come out of ink, are dodging an attack, or are attacking. This makes it more predictable to the opponent where you are going to end up (the ground). It doesn't add much range and makes you more visible. Also, when playing on a map like Moray Towers, don't jump down to the next platform unless you are sure there are no chargers waiting for you. They'll know where you're going (again, the ground). I'm 12 years old I've been playing both of the Splatoon games since day one.

You forgot to cover the fact that someone can counter your vertical escape. When you’re going upwards someone can ink the space above you, leaving you vulnerable. If this happens to you, use all the vertical hight you have to an advantage

for those who have a suction bomb, don't forget the sneaky behind the object trick. I've done it several times. Works for ledges with holes too. If someone is running after you and there is a wall, if you throw it behind the wall the radius of it's explosion should at least add some damage or kill them entirely. For the ledges if you throw it upside down (sneakier) or on the wall under the holed ledge they don't notice it right away and it could get you some nice kills. Either way he makes a good point, if you throw it down they won't want to run after you too. Also, for those with bombs that don't stick, I forgot the names of em but they aren't burst bombs, utilize the walls to put it right next to you since throwing it at your feet creates distance anyways. For example, you're being chased, you have enough ink for it, a wall or object is next to you, throw it at the object and it will stop dead in its tracks and kills them easily since the bomb blows up quicker than suction bois.

As the reason for jumping up from your ink, You jump out of your ink to keep your momentum. Use this trick to stay consistent in your swim speed, but don't hold jump for too long, this is because if you are suspended in the air for too long, you are an easy target and may slow down instead.

I just noticed that it now shows what sub weapon you have. Thats actually quite useful cause I sometimes start a match and forget what sub I had so I just use it which would waste my ink, so yeah.

I've got a little tip: it's very important to *know your maps* . There have been quite a few times where I've been able to get away from an opponent chasing me because I know what the map looks like behind me and that there's a path I can take to get away. Yes there may be ink there, but it's faster just to immediately back the heck out of there instead of trying to turn completely around and then start running. Idk just something I've cleaned from experience.

When you jump you get a little bit more range but you lose accuracy, if you see those 4 white lines around the crosshair that is your accuracy (only on shooters and sloshers) any where in those lines is where your shots will go so the closer the lines the better accuracy jumping will make the lines go farther apart so unless you want more range you shouldn't jump when you're trying to kill someone

Forgot to mention super jump.... which is super usefull to runaway as well, not only to come back in fight. Sometimes even jumping back to your start area could be faster than just dying.

Here is a Pro-tip: When moving fast/ moving away from enemy, push the right button then swim to make swimming faster. This wlso better known as substrafing.

So I've put a good amount of time into splatoon to say I'm not the worst at it. Something I've been seeing a lot in splatoon videos is they still have the gyro on. Should I be playing with gyro?? It kinda seems to help pinpoint the target a bit better.. is it good to use it in combo with the L analogue or maybe this is just personal preference? Any thoughts guys?

Literally watching the sniper clip at the first 15 seconds and I would hate to play with you. Every second you dont let go on that trigger is another second not inking. It is critical for snipers to know how to aim and shoot fast, because the time they take to aim is essentially like playing 3v4.
