Hello Mr. Lord! I just love Japanese maples! I heard that the Japanese name for them means "baby hands" because of the small, hand-like leaves. They are very expensive it seems and I don't think I have a good place for one in my yard. I really think the low-growing, spreading, purple ones are so beautiful. They are supposed to get some shade and in a place sheltered from the wind, but the wind factor is probably the most important thing to consider. Mr. Lord I love all your gardening videos and believe you are a pure treasure for the folks you work for! Thank you for all your interesting and in formative videos. kristi

Hi John, can I move a Japanese maple in middle of the summer? I think it's in a spot that gets too much sun and I have a hydrangea that's in too much shade (Limelight). I would love to transplant them into each other's spot and hopefully they'll still have time to get over transplant shock and still give me some good fall color and/or blooms. The hydrangea was last moved in late winter of this year. The maple was in for it's second year.

I was tickled to see the toadlily! They are so underappreciated here in the states. Personally they are one of my favorites. I love them bc they are shy and have a subtle beauty... so different from the overly showy flowers loved by so many here in the southern U.S.

I love toad lilies, too, and was glad to see them make a small appearance here. They are easily divided and respond well to pinching back here in Georgia, USA

Whe have 3 full grown red Japanese maples on our property, i recently discovered atleast 20 small Japanese maples, some red some green. They range from 12" to 36". I want to transplant them to other areas for a landscaping remodel, just worried about killing the small JM's

It’s better to do when the tree is dormant but you can move them in June. Just make sure you have a big root ball. I have done it a few times.
