I made the move to Dominican Republic a week ago and I love it! I sold just about everything in my apartment in the U.S. I was determined to make this move and I am happy I did. I am moving into my apartment in a week and once I'm settled in I can explore Punta Cana. sometimes I think did I make the right decision and I stop myself from thinking that. also, LANGUAGE! learning the language of the country you want to move to, say if you’re someone who cannot feasibly/ realistically plan a move right this minute-e.g. students-doing your research on the country you want to move to, then learning the language beforehand is crucial. even if you don’t end up moving to that country where the language you’re learning is spoken, it’s still beneficial to some degree. for example, if you learn one of the romance languages (e.g. Spanish) but end up moving to Portugal instead of, say, Mexico, there’s still so many similarities between Portugese and Spanish and will, perhaps, make language learning easier when you do move.

The idea of leaving America has never been more appealing to me. I just had a baby 3 months ago. I’m already back at work full time. The lack of maternity leave here is horrible. I am also terrified of sending my baby to school in this country. I cannot in good conscious send my child to school knowing it’s possible for lunatics to come in with a gun while law enforcement does nothing. This is not the greatest country in the world and I can’t stay here any longer. It’s time to go somewhere my baby can be safe and I won’t have to leave the next one to go back to work full time when my baby is just weeks old.

Gina, I understand what you’re saying, there are lots of travel/live abroad KZbin channels out there, but it’s difficult to find ones that are more fitting for you. I don’t have a KZbin channel, but I watch a variety and try to take what I can from those that offer info that’s better suited to my circumstances, which for KZbin are quite unique. I’m retired, black, a transgender woman from the US and I’ve been living abroad for almost 2 years now. Interestingly enough, it was Dan of vagabond Buddha who really got me inspired and he’s nothing like me, except he talks about doing this on a small budget and that got my attention. I only have social security, so not a lot of wiggle room, but you’d be surprised at how far that money can go outside the US. Wherever you get your information I wish you success in your endeavors!

@@ginarivers3779 I live in Cuenca, Ecuador and I’ve been here for the past three months. Before that I lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for 17 months and San Cristobal de Las Casas, Mexico for 1 month. I’ve found costs in all these cities to be comparable and can vary from $850 to $1,500 USD a month depending on how you want to live. I’m very frugal and even with my prescriptions I spend on average about $850 USD a month and I want for nothing. Now I don’t eat out except on rare occasions just for a change as I don’t mind cooking, ( I’m not happy with the prep and clean up though) but I have the time for all that and I am particular about what goes into my food and I’m also vegetarian. I also only occasionally drink, I just bought my second bottle of wine yesterday since I’ve been here. Something that amazes me is that the US claims to be the best at everything yet I’ve never paid more than $500 a month for a fully furnished apartment and I mean fully furnished: furniture, stove, refrigerator, bed linens, towels, kitchen utensils, pots and pans and WiFi. There’s free WiFi just about everywhere you go. I never had that in the US. And just my thing I decided I didn’t want to live in any country that was home to colonizers and even though Latin America isn’t black, there are plenty of brown and black people here, so no one looks at you funny, although I do get a few looks because my fashion is Goth and some are curious about that. So I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions I can answer. Hasta luego!

Portugal is a great country to live in Europe. Amazing climate, food, education and health system. You can get the NHR/D7 visa which is easy to obtain. You can also get a mortgage in Portugal, avoiding the current abusive rents, with only 20% or 30% downpayment showing your 1040F, paystubs and credit score. Remember to maintain your job until signing the deed here in Europe (process can he done entirely remotely using a local lawyer) then you are free to leave rhe US! If you want to retire on the next 5 to 10 years you can buy now and rent the property until you come. Happy Easter!

I know every country has its pros and cons, but for the last 7 years I have personally witnessed horrible atrocities throughout our country both politically and socially…if I can be in a country where the only decision I have to make is what will I eat and which life experience will I choose today..then life is good!. My college-aged daughter and I are planning to move to Ghent, Belgium in a year or so. Therefore, we are planning to either sell or give away most of our stuff including clothes and learn a couple languages such as Spanish and French. Although most of the population of Ghent speaks Flemish or Dutch, I still would like to speak French because I need to know how to read housing documentation, etc. (which is in French, or Dutch). I was forced into retirement this year because I refused to take the COVID-19 vaccines (not afraid to say this on KZbin!). I had put in. a religious exemption that my company offered which was denied and I was fired after being with the company for 21 years. However, I came away with a sizable pension and bank account. I really don't have any allegiance to this country anymore, because I am now 65 and would like a better life right now. Therefore, thank you so much for this video, I will do diligence on my research to find out about everything you talked about.

Good info, but W2 jobs are going to fire you immediately if they find out you moved out the country and spent more than 6 months outside country. They face massive fines. 1099 and self employment are only two true options if you want to truly move out. Edit - also be weary about suggesting Nomad List for prices….might be accurate for AirBNBs but waaaay low on long term rentals. Numbeo is better bet to gauge prices.

I’ve heard many people say they wanted to leave the country before 2016 and after 2016. I’m just glad to actually find one of the few Americans who actually walk that talk. and your video is a good quick intro guide on how to live abroad. I’m not sure about New Zealand or Australia because of the negative feedback I’ve gotten from people there on their Covid zero policies. Interesting that you mentioned universities. A friend of mine got her veterinarian medicine degree in England and the curriculum was straightforward, without any unneeded or required liberal arts courses, which allowed her to finish her studies in her early 20s. And yes I’ve been a believer of what Eryka Badu said and that is to pack lite.

@goodenergi 2 жыл бұрын
why did you choose el Salvador?
@kevinquintanilla-toledo4170
@kevinquintanilla-toledo4170 2 жыл бұрын
@@goodenergi Short answer it has the tropical weather we are looking for along with cheaper cost of living compared to where we live now. They made Bitcoin legal tender in September 2021 and that brought it a ton of interest from people all over the world. They similar in size as Costa Rica but they make less money in tourism. I think in the next couple years this will change and politically it seems to be a pretty good fit for us. There are less rules to follow as in Covid vaccine requirements, freedom to choose what you want while still having options. I think it would be a good time to buy a commercial property or even residential property and get into real estate down there. Currently we have 5 rental properties and would like to diversify into a different country. We will also visit Guatemala and Mexico. The other big thing is El Salvador is investing a huge amount of money on their infrastructure and farming. They want to become producers of their own food vs importing foods from other countries. Along with those previous investments they are also investing in thermal energy, which is also apart of Bitcoin mining. The biggest takeaway is they are trying to produce food, energy, and provide value to other countries. This will make them a big player if successful on a global scale. What worries me is how the US is handling Energy, Food and we don't produce anything. El Salvador is trying to do what Singapore did when they became their own country. I think they can do it but it will take time. I compare El Salvador to Southern CA I think it will be a go to destination in the future but I don't know exactly when. Any way that is my reason why lol.
