You can stay in Osaka for about $800-$1300 usd a month. Which is pretty affordable. Coming from USA, Japan in general is also more affordable, so i think it could be worth it to travel there for 6 months at a time. I would even consider buying an akiya as a vacation home. I wonder how many times you can apply for the digital nomad visa?

That’s a good question, there’s not a ton of information out there right now but it appears that there is no limit as long as you wait six months to reapply

i wish there was more long-term options for foreigners that don't necessarily want to get a job there. The digital nomad visa is not very long and doesn't allow for renewal :(

Wow! It looks like an opportunity to immerse in the culture vs. vacation short-term in Japan. How walkable are the neighborhoods? I read that the metro system is very efficient, but what about rural areas? Thanks for the valuable lowdown!

There is also the business manager visa which is sort in between the start up visa and the HSP business/investor visa. I plan on using the business manager to HSP business Manger pipeline to Permanent Residency to live in Japan long term. The digital nomad visa I thought was disappointing as it doesn't allow you to get long term rentals, bank accounts or a health insurance card for the national health insurance so it is a hard pass for me.

Thanks for your insight! 🙏 how’s that process going?

Not getting a residency card seems like a big hurdle, but this digital nomad visa seems pretty nifty otherwise.

Definitely worth it if you plan on traveling around Japan and not staying in one one place during your stay

Can you do a Japan visa run, like a Thailand visa run, etc? Meaning, go to say, Korea, for one day or one week, then come back to Japan and get a fresh 3 months? I am an American citizen.
@DarViajarАй бұрын
Seems like a bit of a grey area. It would probably be frowned upon because you are circumventing the immigration system, but you may be able to get away with it depending on what the immigration officer decides. But, you run the risk of getting yourself into trouble with the immigration authority, which may bar you from being able to enter Japan again if you get caught. I would suggest going to Japan with a longer visa to avoid that risk, you can read about all the options in my Ebook: shop.beacons.ai/ryanflynn/c1835395-d89f-4ba4-ab72-001eda98570f

So based on this video. If you aren't owning & operating a business, and work for yourself, you can only stay there 6 months, and 1 year if you have capital. But you also cant get long-term rentals? Man, I love the idea of living there, but they really make it difficult. Not sure why they aren't looking to do things similar to Thailand/Philippines. I mean, they are mostly saying "Hey, if you don't actively bolster the economy, you only can get a visit that feels like something, but not enough to live there. " Lol, if you want to use the general visa/digital nomad visa, you need to be able to travel out of the country too. Jeez. Not sure why they don't want passive contribution to the economy as well. If I moved there, and had the funds to support myself and my family, I'd be 'actively' contributing daily. Welp, hopefully they will change things and I can go there one day without needing to change my career, or constantly go in and out of the country. Thanks for the info. Seems Japan is a dream that needs to wait until it's easier to stay long-term.

Hmm, I’m not sure I understand what you mean by not owning and operating a business but working for yourself, wouldn’t that be a sole proprietorship?
@KoteOkarunАй бұрын
@@DarViajar what i mean is, a cafe for example or some other business model, to get long-term stay path options. If you work for yourself, you can be a sole proprietorship that's true. but at least for my career, it isn't helpful. Being an independent trader, I don't have as many avenues as other people do. Maybe consulting, though frankly, id rather not work 2 jobs, one of which im only doing to stay in the country xD, imagine that drain no thanks. Point being, they are very meticulous and strict and its clear they dont really want people over there as much as they claim. I am not even interested in owning a business at this point in my life, nor do I want to rely on something I am not even slightly passionate about in order to keep safe my family's lives that are built in a different country.
@DarViajarАй бұрын
@@KoteOkarun that's true. It seems Japan is really only interested in immigrants who can bring innovation or wealth to the country. But it sounds like for your specific situation, you would be able to open a Godo Kaisha (Japanese LLC) for your trading business and move there on a Start Up visa (1 year) or a Business Manager visa (up to 5 years, with the ability to be renewed). I go into all the specifics of every visa in my Japan visa Ebook, which you can check out here: shop.beacons.ai/ryanflynn/c1835395-d89f-4ba4-ab72-001eda98570f

As long as you have $200,000 is it possible they will renew your visa indefinitely or just 1 year? Thanks.
@DarViajar5 ай бұрын
Great questions! From what I can see, it is one year maximum and then you will need to leave the country and reapply
