Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I kzbin.infoUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

I took heating and cooling back in the day. Never did anything with it though. When I was taught, you had to evacuate all the air out of the system before introducing the refrigerant. This was accomplished with a vacuum pump and a set of manifold gauges. Blows my mind how that doesn't have to be done here.

@@keishabaskin2174 - You don't need an "certified HVAC person" to do DIY. You just need a vacuum pump. All Mini Splits come with a precharge of freon stored in the condenser. All that's necessary to do is to pump the system down and then open the valve. Tons of videos here on YT, including my own to show you how... kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3O0oZaOnJ1pmac I have two accounts on YT, the above video is my primary channel. These "Mr. Cool" systems are more than twice the cost of a non "DIY" mini split. Go to Harbor Freight and buy a vacuum pump for around $150 and save literally hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on the install not to mention diversity in shopping for brands of mini splits without precharged lines as this brand, Mr. Cool, markets. On my channel you will also see me DIY a full up 5-ton central ac system in my home.

Great video and nice install job. I installed 2 of these types of units in my house and do awesome for heating and cooling. I noticed in your sub panel that you have your main ground on the left side on a single lug by itself. It should have a ring of green tape on it signifying its a ground wire. Most importantly it should be with the ground bar on the right side of the box. Also by most codes you should have a bare ground wire coming out of box from ground bar going outside to a ground rod between 6 and 10 feet into the ground. In any case I highly recommend you move the main ground over to the ground buss bar. Normally the grounds and whites share one or both sides of the main side buses. The one down in the right I believe is for the main earth grounding. Figured I would share that with you. Stay comfortable :-)

Thanks. My ground wire runs back to the main panel. My grounds and neutrals are bonded at the main panel, and unbonded at the sub. I got the wire for free so why not? I can add some green tape to the ground...I thought I did that somewhere because I bought some tape years ago for that project.

I had to drill through a thick cement wall too. I drilled a pilot hole with a long bit angled slightly down for the drain. I then drilled from the inside then the outside with a carbide hole saw. Still took me about 20-30 minutes for each side. I didn't have a hammer drill, just a 1/2 drill. I wish I had painted the lineset covers when I installed them. The PVC got very yellow so I had to pull them back off and paint them. We did a lot of similar things on the install. I put my outdoor unit on a pad however. You did a really good job. Joel, I had a Mitsubishi mini split salesman come by today. Nice fella. He wants 13k to put in a 2 head system (2 Head+1 condenser). I swallowed hard. I can put two 12K systems into my duplex for less than 3k. What should i do? Smile. Thanks for your very detailed explanation. It was very well done. Thanks for sharing. See you fix bikes. I had a Hayabusa that i rode for 10 years. Bought it for 12 K and put another 15K into it....you know the drill....carbon fiber wheels, single sided titanium race pipe, race struts fore and aft, custom bass ass paint job....on and on...upgraded brakes...sold it for 7K....us men are nutts.

Very nice! I also have a Motorcycle KZbin Channel. I live in Florida, so you can imagine how hot it gets in my Garage. I’ve tried filming at night to make it a little easier, with no success. It makes filming miserable lol. I finally made the decision to buy one of these! Can’t wait to get it installed. Thank you for making the video, I know how much time it takes to make one of these.

@@LDBaha went awesome! And couldn’t be more pleased. Just added insulation on the garage doors, and that made a huge difference.
