You should Google cleaning a grill with a wire brush. My daughter is an emergency room nurse and they see an average of 20 cases a Summer where people swallow tiny wires from those brushes. Heavy duty aluminum foil balled up is much safer.

True. That is why I first clean grill with wire brush, then paper towel soak in vegetable oil over grill to clean it and possible remove any tiny wire from the grill

Yep - happened to a buddy of mine many years ago. Had to go to the emergency room for surgery. Haven't used a wire brush on my grill since. There are safer tools to use with no wires.

I would also suggest after cleaning your grates always add either vegetable oil or olive oil to them so 1 they don't rust from having had water on them and 2 next time you go to grill the food won't stick because they are already oiled up. You can also use an onion prior to your next grilling session to keep the grates seasoned.

Have to say this works. Got my grill clean this way and stacked the grill grates on top of each other and lit a fire so it’d burn off the vinegar and stuff

The acididty of the lemon is easily neutrilized by the salt. LoL Just use vinegar and plenty of elbow grease Then use the lemon just to remove the vinegar and turn it on for 10 minutes high temp. To finish just use oil to nicely cover it and prevent rust

@@monicaldr3711 the dried grease can be shopvacced, the grimey grease you could scrape away from bottom with a stiff putty knife. The grates you can put in a black garbage bag and coat with vinegar and baking soda and seal and leave in sun for a day or two. Should loosen things up
