I cut my pattern pieces out traced them on to a plastic kitchen cutting board. You know the flimsy thin kind. Then used them as my template. Also I used this plastic cutting board to measure and trace a template to press out the card pocket accordian. I labeled them with their measurements, then slide them under the fabric, fold over and press, switch to the next size and fold over fabric and press, repeat. Makes it so much faster.

What an excellent tutorial. The detailed instructions for directional/non-directional fabric and your personal suggestions are so helpful. And thank you for using inches rather than centimeters. I see that you are using a Phillips iron. Do you like it? Which model is it?

In video 1 I go in to which pieces need interfacing. I'm not sure I know which piece you mean? The outer portion of the zipper pockets needs lining but that's it as far as the zipper pocket pieces go 😊 hope that helps

Hmmmm you should have the updated version then. Have you checked the little "test square" to make sure the pattern printed out at the right size, you need to make sure you printer is printing at actual size not scaled in anyway. 😊

@@KittenishBehaviourSian Well I feel rather foolish as I realised I forgot to add the centre piece to the pattern. That explains the difference in the width. Oh well off to cut new pieces. I am hoping to use the fabric I cut wrong in another pattern. Just a small tip, I would have like to see the videos numbered eg 1,2,3 etc. Just makes it a little easier to find.

I have never understood the obsession with this wallet other than the fact that it’s easy to make. It may be easy to make, but it’s not very functional as a wallet. It seems like you’d be able to put a lot of stuff in it but as soon as you do, it won’t close. Not even close. The accordion pleats take up all the interior space between the interior pockets and prevent you from putting anything of any bulk whatsoever in the wallet. Same goes for the card slots. As soon as they start pooching out because you’ve added cards, the wallet won’t close. Many people who sell bags and wallets say this is one of their most popular selling items but they must be altering the pattern. I know that if I bought one of these wallets made exactly like the pattern, I’d be mad that I wasted my money on a pretty wallet that I can’t use.
@KittenishBehaviourSian2 жыл бұрын
I've used one daily for the last 6 years at least and I find it works really well for me. Full of cards, receipts, business cards, tickets, etc and I can fit my phone in as well and it closes just fine 😊
@CraftyCountryBumpkin7 жыл бұрын
I love these videos. So helpful. But, I do have to say that this may be encouraging people not to buy the pattern since you are basically showing all the directions and giving all the measurements. Please don’t be offended. Just thinking it may be hurting sales for the designer. Again, I own the pattern and love these videos. Thank you for doing these for the pattern owners.
@KittenishBehaviourSian7 жыл бұрын
Lisa Tackett I did think about that but you don’t have the main body of the bag and flap dimensions and personally I wouldn’t want to try and draft those myself. I do give people the links for the pattern and hardware and I hope that the sewing community is such that they want to support pattern makers by buying the patterns for the products they like. Glad you enjoyed the tutorials. 😊
