Do you want to know how to deal with anger? Do you want help with anger management? If so, you’re in the right place. This anger management video can really help.
Noah Elkrief
This video is about how to deal with anger, and is part of my anger management series. It may seem as though our anger is created by what others have done or said, but it’s really not. If someone did something and you didn’t know about it (couldn’t think about it), then you wouldn’t feel it. After someone committed an action, in any moment that you don’t think about it, you don’t feel anger.
How to deal with anger? How to approach anger management?
First, you have to recognize that your anger is created by your thoughts, and stop blaming your anger on others, and events.
How to deal with anger? How to approach anger management? The second thing to do is to look at whether you believe others' opinions about you. If you don't believe others' opinions about you, then your opinion of yourself won't worsen, and then you will have nothing to defend.
I hope you find this video of anger management techniques to bee helpful in showing you how to deal with anger.

Never hate part of yourself unless you want to develop self-loathing issues or dissociative disorders. Aiming to never get angry is a recipe for disappointment. It's part of the human experience and our biological makeup. Learning to be in charge of your anger is more important. Let anger be your friend, not your master. If you try to deny/suppress it, it will eventually become your master and you will have utterly failed.

Your anger at your anger is circular. Accept that sometimes anger arises, this is normal. It's how we respond and what we do with those feelings that arise where we have the power to choose. And as this video lays out. A lot of those feelings arise due to trying to defend an imaginary self image against opinions that do not matter. Go forth with peace and love in your heart and know that you are not alone x

Hay I resonate with your anger, for a while i got to know that I'm mad at anything that is disturbing my peace, after getting this awareness, I understood that I have to start with this madness, to accept it and to agree to live in peace although I have madness sometimes, I had to start somewhere, I still have a long way to go but I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, peace and love

Noah, I have struggle with my temper and anger since I was a child. I started by using my anger to make people afraid of me so that they would not pick on or tease me. Each time we moved to a new school I would end up in a fist fight to establish that I was not to me messed with. As time went on, I assumed this tactic worked because people "respected" when actually they "feared" me. I thought that my anger controlled how others acted towards me. Subconsciously I continued using similar tactics throughout my adult life. As expected, this has not only gotten me in many, many troublesome situations, but has caused me and people I loved a great deal of pain. I have spoke with a few different consolers and therapist, but never truly understood these feelings. I assumed the anger came a abused child that lacked a father, but never knew why I still reacted to stress with a quick explosion. I am deeply grateful for the videos you made. You knowledge and ability to share it at a simple level has opened my mind. You have given me some tools to start working on myself and stop blaming others. These by far are the best, most informative video's I have ever watched. Thank you, AGAIN.. Jr

This is an outstanding and insightful presentation of your overall thesis, I would like to broaden the scope from only anger (which comes from other/external) to include depression (which is self/internally focused) . That concept I understand began with Freud who hypothesized that "depression is anger turned inward". Thank you for your insights as expressed in this and other videos Noah as well as your book, they have helped me come closer to finding peace and happiness ☺

I don't like to think of myself as an angry person so when someone touches that part of me through an action or comment I do find myself trying desperately to defend myself and change their mind. If that doesn't work and they still have a bad opinion of me I do get angry and criticize them. I could never figure out why I work this way but you've explained this process clearly and I'm relieved to finally understand what's going on. It's going to take time but I hope to keep this realization in mind so I can be happy instead of entering the same old struggle that leaves me sad and confused. Thanks, Noah!

One of your first examples was your boss thinking you're bad at your job. It's significant that that was one of your first examples, because it shows quite clearly where your model breaks down: I believe that I'm good at my job. That's just a belief - it isn't real, it only exists in my mind. My boss believes that I'm bad at my job. That's just a belief - it isn't real, it only exists in their mind. I received a paycheck last week. It's real, the money and the things I exchange that money for are real and tangible. If my boss continues to believe that I'm bad at my job, I'm not going to have a roof over my head next month. Unless you're somehow entirely self-sufficient, yes you do need external validation - not for your self-worth, because self-worth isn't a need, but because external validation is how you get money, and money is how you get things like food, and heat to cook that food. The problem with saying that opinions aren't real is that opinions inform behaviors, and behaviors have real consequences.

Hola Noah, Interesting video, though "interesting" is just my "illusionary" opinion, he he he! This is the first video I watch from you, and though it is a bit long, I found it worth watching. I think your logic of questioning other people's opinions (negative or positive) or criticism (negative) first, instead of right away giving them power to affect us and react to this is something that many therapists or psychologists in general recommend, not only in terms of anger, but also in terms of self-esteem. But I tend to "cheat" about this reasoning, as I tend to be an optimist and prefer to focus only on the positive stuff in life. So I have no problem accepting the good stuff people tell me or think of me. I try to ignore the bad stuff, but of course it is not always easy. :) But what I am actually not sure of, after watching your video, is how your reasoning applies to the area of emotions. That is, if we do not let other people's "feedback", whether good or bad, affect us, how do you handle things like love, solidarity, kindness, etc., which are closely related to mutual "feedback"? Cheers, Ivette

ivecloptv he's talking more of your self image, the "self", the "you", your ego and how praise or insult both mean nothing about "you." The real you. So it's ok to "be" kind, caring, loving, helpful, nice, funny, etc and feeling and expressing those feelings associated with those without believing that you are them or they are or anyone is "a Caring, a loving, a lovable, a good, a kind or a whatever person" these are a different type of pleasure. It's more about "you" than them. Just being nice, good, kind, whatever just to convince/believe that "you're" a "good, nice or whatever" person rather than doing it for them. Its more selfish

That you Noah, this video has been very helpful. My friend constantly hints or tries to sneak in a mention that I’m emotionless, fat or that I have no other friends. These things are blatantly false but would still hurt my feelings and make me very angry with him and put me in an awful mood. I need to thank you for this as I am generally a calm person but when I am angered it lasts a long time and this has helped me put my frustration aside and understand that it is unhealthy to perceive a subjective opinion as objective truth about my person.

@terrelldeaver7619
@terrelldeaver7619 8 жыл бұрын
I understand now. I shouldnt be angry at anything because we are all just existing. We have opinions but those opinions stem from the people around us and are not the truth because no one knows the truth. We just created a "false truth" that says how we are supposed to be when really no one knows what is bad or good because no one on earth can create the standard for those things. No one is above anyone else because we are all just living. We are all the same. (EX: if I have "grammar mistakes" in your opinion, it is not that I actually have grammar mistakes. Who created the standard for grammar mistakes? A human being. Why is that human being above everyone else, and get to tell others what they are doing is wrong? That human is not better. Everyone is on the same level, yet we put others on higher level based on our opinion. Just because you think I'm not writing correctly, doesn't mean I'm not writing corectly. 😝)

If someone beats me at a race/kills me i get angry at them, and continue to rage and shout when i get killed/beat. i know the answer to this is easy but i cant discover it for myself so do you have any suggestions? :P
@NoahElkrief

+ScottishSwallow You are avoiding feeling helpless or worthless. In the moment, that you get angry, stop and ask yourself, "How does this make me feel about myself?" Then say to yourself in a very soft/sad way "I feel completely helpless/worthless" and see if it makes you feel those feelings. Then once you feel that, let yourself completely feel it, or see that it doesn't matter. I will be sharing a lot of new videos soon, and this will be covered.

Hi Noah, Your video helped me so very much! I listened to it in three parts, but as I really heard your guidance it was very apparent that In have been giving into this power of unworthiness. I have felt unworthy and was not able to clearly see what was going on in my marriage for the last 10 years. As a divorce is in the process of beginning, I have felt so much anger at my husband of 34 year. I know that I will be better off without him in my life, but the steps of relinquishing the effects of his emotional absence left me questioning my sense of self and my true strength. Living in the present moment for me means that I have the right and privilege to release my anger and disappointment because his opinions are just his opinions and not my reality. This is true suffering, and to be able to use the wisdom you have shared in this video may take a lot of practice, but your illustrations of what is real and what is opinion has shone me a path out of this darkness and into a present moment where things are okay! I have come to see that the growth I am experiencing would not have been possible had we stayed in a compromised, opinionated relationship. I have gotten so much from your videos and want to tell you that as I watch them, you are surrounded in an aura of white light. I’m pretty surprised that I see this around you. I have seen auras for. Along time, but never before on a screen. You are truly a gift to me. Thank you so very much, keep it up Noah!

Hi Noah. I want to say that your videos contain some of the most helpful advice I've ever come across. However, I have a question. You say that the only way to get angry or upset over a negative comment directed at you, is if you believe it. But I ran into a situation a while back where some coworkers were spreading a rumor about me. I knew the rumor wasn't true, but even though I knew what they were saying about me wasn't true, I still got very angry. The idea of someone having a negative opinion of me, even if I know it's false, still upsets me. Why is this?
@NoahElkrief
@NoahElkrief 8 жыл бұрын
+Cory Smith You're believing that if they believe something negative about you, they must view you as negative. And if they view you as negative, you must be negative.

@humanyoda
@humanyoda 8 жыл бұрын
+Cory Smith There's another possible explanation. You may be getting angry because you believe that the rumor can hurt your reputation, which, in turn, will reduce your opportunities to get what you want. And that CAN, indeed, be so. Rumors CAN do that.

Not necessarily. You might not believe something is negative but you know that if you rumours spread others might believe them and your reputation ruined. So how should one deal with those who spread rumours. Ignoring them would avoid conflict but is that a solution?

Hi Noah, I've been watching your anger videos for a while now, and I need help, like serious help. So my problem is gaming, I take it far too seriously and when something doesn't go my way, I break something, like my television, remote, etc. It starts to have chain effects, I need to repair it, which costs money, my parents get angry at me, I have suicidal thoughts, I need help. Thanks.

Brad M Hi, This sounds pretty serious in my opinion. Having suicidal thoughts is not a good thing. Its VERY good that you understand your issue and want to fix it. It means you're already half way there! :) It is also very good that you realize your behaviour is hurting other people and yourself! This is a wonderful first step in achieving peace and clarity, and solving your problems. Gaming might seem like a problem but perhaps it is not the game that is causing the anger, but what the game represents. Think about what it means for you to lose or for things to not go the right way? Have you felt this way in other situations outside of gaming? I can bet that you have. So perhaps the issue here is not so much gaming as self esteem? Perhaps you need to learn to feel better about yourself, to not put yourself down and to not let anything or anyone else put you down either. Dig deeper and try to find out what can really be causing the anger. Do you feel bad about yourself when things don't go your way? Perhaps there is an answer hidden somewhere beyond gaming? I don't know if this helped, but hang in there and keep trying to overcome this! Because you can!

Simple concepts. It's amazing that I was never taught this. I'm grateful I can teach my Daughter these techniques as they are so useful. I will teach her that a perceived compliment or a perceived insult mean nothing about who you are. Over the last few years (before discovering Noah), I would occasionally think about how compliments are potentially 'damaging' but I wasn't able to articulate that clearly. Question your thoughts, question your thoughts about others. There's times I label people...but it's just not real. I may view someone as 'lazy' but, if I think about it carefully...I realize that there is no way that person is 'lazy' all the time. Then my thoughts and judgements begin to dissipate. I love that.

Yes, this video helped me to organize my thoughts. When I am feeling angry, my thinking becomes unorganized. After watching this video, I can now ask myself questions about what has made me angry, what am I trying to defend, is what they are saying true, why is the situation hurting my feelings (?). These questions will help me to find organization in my thinking vs. sulking and being depressed.

I don't agree with the part that you must believe the negative gossip people might say about you, because even if you know it's not the truth and you don't believe it, but if the rumor is bad enogh where it can ruin your reputation and relationships than of course you will get mad and upset it's human nature that doesn't mean you believe it's the truth about yourself! You need to correct that part! Ths rest is good!
