@@TristanErvin Here are a couple things that helped me to pay less: (1) B&H has a paygoo card, which removes sales tax, and for you in CA, that's a fair bit, (2) they have education discounts, which, if you have a family member in school, saves a lot, (3) I bought a lot of lens used in good condition, they don't age much unlike camera tech which is upgraded every year, (4) Some brands have promotions (Panasonic had a promotion on S5 release, Sony has some promotions sometimes), (5) I'd sell your old cameras that are not used much NOW, because supply-chin problems, right now second hand cameras are selling at good prices, but a little birdie told me this supply chain shortage will probably not be there in 6-12 months. Soooo basically sell your old gear to buy new gear and take "some of your pictures" haha. Love it. This also goes to show that no matter the gear you're still able to take amazing images. Side note people can also sign up for those price watch websites that send you ads on the grey market and one off discount deals.

I really thought this video was going to be about buying used gear, but I enjoyed it anyway. I just sold my 5D mkiii and Olympus OMD EM1 mkii to help pay for my Sony A74, so I very much down with selling old to offset new. Plus, I sold an old EFS lens to pay for pizza, so...there's that.

I’ve had really good luck with selling old gear on Facebook marketplace! Way less fees, and their shipping is pretty reasonable and fast. Plus if you sell local you keep 100%. Helped make switching to r bodies and lenses hella easy.

It definitely has its pros! I need to utilize more but I’ve become so accustomed to selling stuff on eBay that it’s what I default to. It’s smarter though because I’ve always come out of pocket for shipping as a way to make the buyer feel more inclined to buy. Shout out to the R bodies though! 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿

I was expecting you to come up with some crazy saving hacks. 😂 But this actually makes a lot of sense. Especially to not be nostalgic about your old cameras. ...btw. that's a thing I'm quite bad at, because there is always this fear of gear letting me down and being in need of a backup. But I can recommend Amazon Warehouse Deals and special payback actions at your local camera store where you most often get up to 350 € back when trading in your old gear.
