I would also point out that Twin Glaaxies back in the day was shit. In 2000-2001 I had a bash at getting some baseline scores on MAME arcade records, notably Phoenix, Moon Cresta, Gorf and a couple of others. I didn't really get far but I did set banker scores that put me in the top 20 for these three games. I submitted my files and they were accepted fine. Then one disappeared a few weeks later so I questioned it and was told "that can't happen". Except it did. I proved I'd sent it and was accepted. So would they reenter it? Nope. No answer, nothing. So I gave up as they were clearly untrustworthy or incompetent.

***CORRECTION*** 17:29 Billy's team were NEVER able to make an actual Arcade machine produce a girder finger. The picture bm's circle provided to Dr. Mike Zyda by The Elf (neil) shows a screen turned 180 degrees the wrong way. Which would not be possible with an original unmodified DK arcade PCB. OK, back to Todd
@proveall6 ай бұрын
You are absolutely correct that no one on "Team Billy" was ever able to produce the "girder finger" on original unmodified arcade hardware. It has NEVER been shown, regardless of orientation. I pointed out the following to Dr. Zyda in an e-mail titled "Request for Retraction and Apology Re: 'Billy Mitchell vs Twin Galaxies - Michael Zyda Expert Report' ". It was from January 23, 2024: "I do wish to thank you for subsequently attaching the picture which you referenced in paragraph 'e' of your report. You do, however, realize that what you reference as a 'girder finger' in that picture, was an example of the rolling shutter effect, given that it was not the product of a direct feed set-up, but a photo capture of CRT output by an external camera or recording device. This is beyond dispute, and your insistence to accept the word of a lay arcade repairman who is a close associate of Mr. Mitchell, in the face of evidence clearly defining what a 'girder finger' is in the context of both technical and game code analysis, is disgraceful." Besides falsely claiming that the "girder finger" had been produced, Dr. Zyda's report relied extensively on inadmissible hearsay and contained provably false technical assertions. Zyda would have been torn to shreds if the case had gone to trial. Shortly after the publication of Dr. Zyda's report, I filed an ethics complaint with Association for Computing Machinery(ACM). That complaint was filed on January 25, 2024. On June 4, 2024, ACM had this to say: "We have investigated the complaint and made a determination. Consistent with ACM policies, we will not be making the determination publicly known. The case is now closed." It seems that ACM isn't much concerned about public accountability and transparency when it comes to one of their "Fellows". Very disappointing.

The tragic tale of Todd Rogers is that he has had a pretty crummy life and childhood, and he just wanted to be someone and be loved. His motivation is very different from the psychopath Billy Mitchell. Billy wants power and control. Todd just wanted to feel seen and appreciated. Todd went on Tipster and he's not a monster. its funny to compare speedrunners/high scorers of the past (esp in the case of billy and todd) to those of the day. in the past they wouldnt post their runs because of "proprietary knowledge" while in today's age, they share everything including strategies and intricate details on how they achieved their runs so that they can encourage other runners to beat them and/or find more optimal paths. It's clear that the "proprietary knowledge" of todd and billy was just to keep people from outing them as a fraud. Modern speedrunning is so much more competitive bc all knowledge is shared. A new discovery only helps to enhance the community and ensure that any record is only the current bar with the potential to be raised even higher.
@EddieSpaghetti696 ай бұрын
A very recent comparison that confused people was Earthbound (NES) glitch/debug percent. There was a person whom discovered you could glitch through walls. Everyone thought he was a lying sack of garbage. You can't just *walk through the wall* and he could; it's just describing the methodology wasn't very clear at all and when you did achieve it *it looked like you'd cheated with a walk-through-walls cheat.* The guy never claimed "proprietary knowledge" nor bothered to hide anything. Turns out that by confusing the ejection mechanics for characters results in an ejection into the hills where you can find a debug object in the corner of the screen. You can beat earthbound in under 5 minutes because of this. Todd and Billy are both plants I suspect. There are a lot of individuals that are boosted artificially, and I suspect these two were a part of that plan. They never got off the ground because a ton of average people find video games to simply be not interesting.
@Megaritz5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think the modern method is less corrupt and more community-oriented in a good way. I think maybe the "proprietary knowledge" stuff may have had *some* value in keeping up a certain mystique, but it relied on the referees being non-corrupt, and it may have also contributed to a certain exclusionary mindset. Now we know some of the tg referees were corrupt.

Todd Rogers is innocent, Billy Mitchell said he personally saw Todd recreate every single record in one day. Unfortunately they weren't able to get any pictures. Or videos. Or witnesses. Or proof. But you can totally trust them.

I went back and checked.. that was not listed as one of his suspicious high scores

@@1FallenStar To be fair, he probably set such a high score that the arcade machine is still tallying it to this day. /s

While Todd rogers and Billy Mitchel are both horrible people and cheaters I would still say Billys worst in my opinion cause of the fact he’s used the law to threaten and silence people like Karl jobst and apollo cause they called him out as the cheater he is heck billy even went as far swing he would smile and giggle at Apollos death and then had the nerve to act all innocent and play the victim over Karl lawsuit even though he’s the one who started all that drama over video game records
