So true. Been doing craft fairs and side sales for over 10 years now and while we are certainly not getting rich my wife and I have been able to upgrade my shop and her sewing room quite nicely over the years. The laser is the newest tool and already banking some to add a second and upgrade the set up. Finding the niche is where it is at. CtL

Yea, that is very cheap. There are some cheaper makers around here but I have the business customer that keeps me busy.
@MrChinkman377 ай бұрын
A picture could sell to a dollar to one person and a million dollars to a different person. You don't price your art depending on what everyone else sells their art for. You price your art for what you feel it's worth and those who feel it's worth it will buy it from you. Supply and demand plays a role, but not as big of a role when you are talking art. Make a good product, people will buy it. Just find little things you can do that give it that extra touch like routing the edges and sanding it butter smooth.

How do you take wood movement into account? The cross pieces will expand length wise....
@TheClackShack7 ай бұрын
The pieces are all at 7-8 percent, as seen on the moisture meter. As long as they stay that way, nothing contracts or expands. Climate controlled houses in my area run around 7-8 percent moisture content. That is why you see me removing them from my kiln. I have seen Lowes and Home Depot sell wet wood. I test it after drying it myself too.
@JohnUpnorth7 ай бұрын
@@TheClackShack that makes sense. All of the stove covers I make in Maine have a little movement to the cross pieces which makes a small gap between the boards in the panel.

Never turn your hobby into a job!
@MrChinkman377 ай бұрын
I personally think that you should turn your hobbies into money. Just find more hobbies that make money so that you're not always doing one hobby for money. Then, you're just basically living your life and making a living off of it. I don't understand why people say don't turn your hobby into a job. Sure, anything that is a job makes things more boring. So don't make it a JOB.
