Such an awesome and amazing man! I listen to him almost every day even if for only a few minutes. Rather than having music playing as I'm working or cleaning the house I often listen to him. Tonight coincidentally I already had this one playing when I received a phone call with scary news about something that in the past would have caused me to stress all night. I would have ruminated on it and just made myself feel worse for hours. Now thanks to Ajahn's talks I am not! I am smiling and knowing that "This too shall pass". I can continue on with my evening not ignoring what's goin on that's upsetting but accepting it and feeling ok. Thank you Ajahn from Oregon, USA

Can someone please give me some advice. How can buddhism keep telling me 'to be' or 'let go' when I have 2 screaming young kids, minimum wage, work 60 hours a week and still cook and clean. No wonder it's easy for monks to say, let go, breathe and calm their mind. They don't have to deal with everyday life
@TheChetan46643 жыл бұрын
Mindfulness and meditation is what is needed. Slowly wisdom develops and you develop right view. Take good actions and those become your seed for good results in the not so far future.
@user-ue9is7iq6z3 жыл бұрын
this exactly the point of buddhism. if you want to possess, that is what you get. that is what is called suffering, cause of suffering. for the monks, they don't want to possess, that is what they get.- disappearance of suffering and easy to follow the holy way of life that lead to elimination of suffering. so you are actually leaning the holy truth. with this wisdom, the best way to go is to accept what you get while disowning what you have. why are we stressed out facing screaming kids, low wage, extra work time and maintaining life chores? because we think this is not good enough and wanting for better. when we are single, we want to be double; when we are married, we want to have kid, one is not enough, we want two or three without considering the burden we put on our heart and back . when we put the burden on, we cry wondering why we are so tired tied on the burden. the best way to go is arrange a strategy with kids, work, and house work- give them time only in the arranged time frame. don't think about them outside of the time frame and only focus on what you plan to do and what you are doing during that time frame. tell the kids that when you will play with them, when you will deal with their problems, and they will need to deal with themselves when it is not in that time frame. they can cry and scream, it is their business to take care of .we take too much burden because of wanting. if we have a short break from stress, we will start to dream for wanting and having more in life. stop wanting and take breaks to realize freedom and rest. learn wisdom.
@禅修以达解脱的快乐2 жыл бұрын
Well said. Suffering is caused by our own cravings for possession and making effort to guard them, grow them, fight for them, fear to lose them, complains generated about them and get tired mentally and bodily all the time and could not realize the reason why we are so tired ourselves. I suggest this friend to read the story of Dipa Ma

Yalcin Altas if you're looking for inner peace, you'll never find it outside yourself.
@chiafairy70917 жыл бұрын
Yalcin Altas it's funny because just from reading this comment it's very easy to see you're very far from that yourself. Being conceited and judging others, putting yourself above others, is definitely not closer to any truth whatsoever. I am not saying you are any of those, but just reread your comment and think about it.
@chiafairy70917 жыл бұрын
Yalcin Altas it's just the way he is. If he tried to change himself to fit this idea of how a peaceful monk is supposed to be like, that wouldn't serve any purpose.
