I wore those,in the late 70's-early 80's,and I always used mink oil,on them.

Just bought some Columbia backpacking boots. I’m gonna have to see if the leather will need to be oiled... but I think my old danners are due for some oiling back up. Thanks for the video!

4:56 Indeed, you can kill a pair of boots by over treating them just as you can by neglecting them. The art of boot care is to find the right balance. I prefer wax treatmants over oils as they don't weaken the leather fibres.

Please provide update on the Alico Guide. Deciding whether to spend $200 to buy pair volunteering rebuilding hiking trails at Mt Rainier, Cascade mountains. Want a comfortable heavy duty boot that can also used for mountaineering. Enjoying your videos.

New to treating for boots! Question: i love my boots and i am definetly cool with keeping up with oiling them, however how hard is it to find a person or learn how to give my boots new soles?

Hubert’s grease in the can vs the oil in this container? Your preference is the oil as a lighter less extreme of the two? Is this product still an option or is bick 4 the go to these days? Does anyone actually use Redwing boot care products and magic spray? I own brand new Iron Rangers and not sure which products or process or way to go before winter weather and general crappy, slushy conditions are a given-

I use Redwing boot oil and spray on my amber 8111's. That's what their website tutorial says to use. Darkens them a bit, but works great. I oil and spray prior to winter snow, slush, and salt and then wash and re-oil in the spring. I use Huberds grease and oil on my military leather boots and Obenaufs LP and oil on my hunting and backpackers, including my Alico Summits and New Guides. All of them work great and they are all kinda the same, I would say. Hope this helps.

Please never do that. DO not put so much oil on the leather shoes. And you know. Do not use just the oil. It will soften your leather but TOO much. It is not good for the leather to absorb only oil, use mixed with wax of different kinds. Whith this much oil you will also achive that your leather will be so oily and soft that all the glue used to connect parts of the shoe or just help to hold the parts will come loose. Please never ever make what the author of this video did!

You're wrong. Nothing of what you stated had happened?

@@KimballCody Sorry I do not fully understand your sentence. But what I have wrote it is from more than 9 years of shoemaking experience. Oil is too much. Have a great day.

Are these as tough as your whites ?
@KimballCody6 жыл бұрын
A little different feel. The soles are super stiff and the uppers have padding. We'll see how long they last compared to the White's
