I'm having trouble getting the steps in this video to work for me. So with select layer method, you would draw your line art on it's own layer and then use lasso to select it and then color it, right? Or am I missing a step?🥲 pliiiz hellpu!

@@mccama19 okay so basically you just put line art on one layer and then use the bucket tool around your line art, then go back to the layers and select “invert layer” and boom! sorry if this is confusing 💗

I actually use this method, I also color a certain thing, name its layer, select its opacity, then begin to shade in a different clipped layer

Suggestion! You can alsobopen layers and click the three dots and click "select opacity" of the current layer! Then whatever layer you open youll only affect the selected area. If the selected area was a little transparent, even that'll carry over.

Easier way: Make blank layer under the drawing, and make background a diff color than white. Make sure the entire drawing is white, in the layer, and remove the background color using the bucket eraser feature, then activate Alpha lock.

An easier way to do this, you can close the gap(s) if you have any or one, make a new layer on top and turn on clipping (on the new layer). That way, you wont have to worry about erasing the overlapping parts on your coloring layer! (Extra tip: try selecting everything except for the lineart, turn off the clipping and erase everything.) Thank me later :)

long time digital artist here lol!! the default selection referring to all layers is a thing i have only really seen in ibis paint, so if you use another program you might need to do a few extra steps to change your settings on selection tool, but the easy way i used to do it was to duplicate my lineart layer and just edit those holes to fill in on one layer that i could delete after and keep the clean lines

You can also use layer clipping or alpha lock

Actually u can just click the gray layer and select "Alpha Lock" And color over that instead of using a new color to clip! But the clipping technique is better if ur using multiple colors and want to layer them!

Quick way to do it: put the magic wand something go to the layer that has the blue and then go to magical wand again and then just start putting the spaces and that you want or do the same thing, but go to the paintbrush, instead of magic wand
