I'm in Istanbul, have been to almost 6 banks to open an account as a nonresident after registering my tax number and also carrying my back home Toronto hydro bills, but everyone has refused before even looking over the documents and finding the reason. Wondering if there are specific branches that lookover foreigner's new accounts?

thanks. but i like to know to maintain a bank account? i mean does the banks charge taxes on the account and if so how much and does it charge according the balance ir is it a fixed fee? do they give a card for the account to buy stuff or should i get a credit card?(in my country we get a card that connects directly to our bank account and there is no credit card so i need to know that too) how do i get a credit card? how does it work exactly with every detail about the way it works. i would really appreciate it if you do that and do it soon. thank you very much.
@aydincakir4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ali , you can get a debit or credit card from the bank as a foreigner. Banks usually charges very small amount on a yearly basis to maintain the account. This fee is not fixed so please consult with the related person in the bank. Thank you 🙂

No, that's not it and it's never been, for the majority of the banks in Turkey, if not all of them, require and have been requiring an Ikamet. In 2019, 2020, and now in 2021. If not, tell me, from a *real experience* of foreigners, not from a theory - what banks don't? In what banks, and where have foreigners been able to open an account without Ikamet?
@aydincakir3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, You can easily do that by visiting a Garanti bank branch but know that you can hear different requirements so it depends on the branch. I am not a blogger shooting these videos! I am a licenced real estate agent since 2006 and i have been helping foreign clients open bank accounts since then...

@@aydincakir I came to 2 braches of Garanti in Istanbul the other day; in the 1st they immediately sent me to some other branch or bank (they didn't speak English, although I showed them "new account opening" written in Turkish on my phone), in the other - too. Reason? I don't know. And if there's a branch of Garanti where they'd open me an account without Ikamet in Istanbul - I haven't found one yet. And all other banks I've been to in Istanbul, including multiple branches of the same banks - Akbank, Turk bankasi, Deniz, Ziraat, Halk, Vakiff, etc..., require Ikamet.
