How to open a digital safe when the battery is flat and the key does not work? This method takes less than a minute! Had I known this, I wouldn't have bought this type of safe! Now I have wrecked the safe.

I know this is an old video, but this video saved me a whole lot of aggrevation. We had our passports in a safe like this and we were getting ready to leave for the airport when we discovered that the safe battery was completely dead and we could not find the key. Did as instructed and opened it right up! Good lesson on cheap safes, we wil replace it with something a little more secure and non electronic.

I had about $4000 stashed in a safe like this....and was stressing to learn that the battery died.....and uhmmmm.....I couldn't find the keys. Didn't take me a minute, more like 20 minutes, but eventually got it open using this brute force technique. For me, the key thingy couldn't come out, but I banged and banged..and the key thingy broke so I could rotate it, and by rotating it, it opened the door by affecting the mechanism behind it. Taught me a lesson today, do not keep $4000 in a $30 safe. Off to the bank I go. Thank you!

Just used your way - the battery was flat and the key I've been given with this 'safe' simply didn't match! Boy it was so easy to open it using hammer and a small ax! Thanks for showing it, till now I was under impression my stuff is safe in that box, man I would be suprised one day! Now I think how to improve what left from the safe - in general body of the safe won't be as easy to be forced, so if I rivet a piec of plate in the place of key hole covered by a padlock for future (if the battery is flat again) - should work

Oddly enough this is EXACTLY what I had to do today. I had some meds in there and could not wait for the lock picking tools to arrive. That lock is so chintzy, the pot metal ring cracks giving you access to the electromagnet that keeps it locked. All it took was an allen key to open it once the lock was removed.

took me alot more than a minute because the keyhole on the safe i had was different and did not just pop off like yours. I had to smash it which took awhile, but eventually i was able to pull it out and put my finger in to open the safe. Thanks

You could have used a tubular lock pick, they cost about $100 US. But the safe would still be intact, and they have a decoder built in so you could copy the key. Nice work either way.

on the back of the safe are mounting holes. insert a a long thin metal rod to reach in and press the button. Just sort of measure and aim blindly. then reset code. VERY EASY AND FAST.

Yup, This is not fake. I know because i have many of this safe. BUT I wont do what you did. I had this problem before. Key & Battery malfunction. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole about 1/2 inch directly below the lock. I inserted a bended 90 degree paper clip inside to move the locking plate (solenoid). Or you can see my vid clip for another method, just by banging on the right spot. What do you expect from a simple & cheap safe?? I am very happy with it for it price. Have a nice day

Hey mate, I just recently bought a safe with the same keypad, having issues with getting the thing to lock.. instructions I received were also very bland. Bypass key also only turns 90 degrees and the knob is the only way of unlocking/locking it. Am I missing something or is it faulty? It should lock automatically when I close the door right? Thanks

These electronic safes are all trash. Get a mechanical lock. If you watch videos most home safes can be bypasses within 15 minutes, even fairly pricey gun safes. The location and bolting it down give you more time.

I guess the title should have been How to destroy.... To open with the safe key you just need to allign the pins in the locking hole so that they can be properly pressed when you insert the key. For some unknown reasons the pins moves away from the key path so when you insert the key, the pins won't t be pushed and that willl be the same as inserting a wrong key. I successfully opened one in that way and fixed the rusted digital key circuit. It was actually after watching this video and realise this is not what I wanted to do to my safe.

Or instead of destroying it, tap on it correctly like you tried to do with the hammer and it will open. you are supposed to tap and then turn after a split second, not to turn then tap or do it simultaneously.

For instance, needing to get inside asap & misplaced the key(or jammed) & battery dead with no one hundred and somethin' $$ to splurge on another safe. I can't believe people couldn't figure this out for themselves. I would think the search for this is to find a way without destroying it.

You could have done so many things better. But hey you still can. First of all get rid of the solenoid and padlock. As others say now your "safe" is even less secure than before. Instead of the solenoid blocking the locking bolts you should use the existing lock hole and mount something better. I don't know which lock you have locally but even the mail box version of (my) local Ruko is much better than that lock in it now but if you want it better there's high security versions of them too. Go for something from the Assa Abloy group it's better than most or now you know the quality I'm looking for. Then scrap the mail box pawl that come with the lock and make you own so that when it's locked it blocks the bolts. Then it would be a lot better than it was before and opening it would require noisy lengthy methods instead of a quick bolt cutter. Lastly make a nice place to mount on it now the plastic one is gone if you want it to be aesthetically nice.

1) put safe on bed, strike with large mallet on top to jolt the solenoid plunger down while same time turning dial to open safe. 2) if keys lost and safe is to large, strike a center punch on tubular cam lock to blowout inner cylinder and fish a clothes hanger to push solenoid plate/plunger down enabling you to turn dial to open safe. replace cam lock after opening it. 3) buy tubular pick tool for under $10 online to easily pick tubular cam lock. replace cam lock after opening it.
