Just fixed mine. Great relaxing vid! Thank you! (personal advice: carefully remove the tiny on/off switch from the frame before putting everything back together. Then just put it back as a final step. Much easier!)
@EveryDayRetroGaming3 жыл бұрын
Haha I had to learn about the on/off switch the hard way after I put the glasses back together again. I did mention removing the switch in the later video where I replaced the battery itself. I'll pin this with hopes people will read it!

EDRG, great vid. Where did you purchase your battery replacements for the glasses? Thanks.

Thanks for replying EDRG regarding where to purchase the battery replacement. I’ll assume you haven’t had any issues w/ them?
@EveryDayRetroGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@custrac The only issue I had was that I cracked my back frames(The black part that goes over the ears). This battery is a little bit thicker than the original battery. Just be sure to leave a little bit of room and don't tighten down the nose piece screws all the way. One battery did come in DOA but I was able to call the company that mailed out the battery and they sent a replacement within a few days.

Hi Every Day Retro Gaming. I have a question for you. I watched both of your videos about glasses. In this video, you are changing the battery at CECH-ZEG1J. As I know, these glasses are sold only for the Japanese market( the letter J at the end of the article). For U.S market prodused CECH-ZEG1U ( the letter U at the end of the article). Please tell me, if I buy CECH-ZEG1J (Japanese) instead of CECH-ZEG1U ( U.S), will they work instead of CECH-ZEG1U ? I mean that the 3D monitor and PS3 made for U.S market and glasses for Japanese market. Will all this work correctly? Thank you so much.
@EveryDayRetroGaming3 жыл бұрын
I double checked all my glasses and they are all U versions. I wouldn't think there would be an issue. If the J version of the glasses are cheap it might be worth the experiment to see if they are compatible.

Hey EDRG! Do you change out batteries for people and if so how much? I just got a ALMOST perfect pair, with stickers still on them and they won't charge :/ Thanks!
@EveryDayRetroGaming3 жыл бұрын
I never thought about changing batteries out for people. I don't think that's something I'd want to get into though. Are their any phone repair shops near you? They might do the battery swap for ya
@DanielVargas-ug9bb3 жыл бұрын
@@EveryDayRetroGaming thanks for the reply! Ahh gotcha! Like 99% of the shops I called said no and the one that said maybe, said the labor alone would be about $50 without the battery. I contacted Sony and they sent me some affiliate shops and only 1 said they'd take a crack at them but I'd be $35 just to "check if it's possible."

So I may have missed this in the video, but you have to solder the new battery on? It doesn't just plug in?
@floats093 жыл бұрын
Also, I have 4 pairs and thought I had ONE working pair. I plugged it in and the red light went on, but now the red light is off even if it's still plugged into the USB port. Does that mean it is bad too? I'm just looking at unloading these 4 pairs of glasses. Literally brand new never used, but want to be honest on Ebay when I list them. Any help appreciated.
@EveryDayRetroGaming3 жыл бұрын
You do have to solder the battery on sadly. I would assume they are bad even if they aren't used. I did have one pair that did the same thing you are talking about. When I opened the glasses the battery was bloated.

Is it possible to mod this 3D glasses to use CR2032 batteries instead so can easily swap as needed?
@EveryDayRetroGaming8 ай бұрын
I don't see why not but that is totally above my ability to do. That would be an awesome mod to these glasses!
@devincurrie41458 ай бұрын
@@EveryDayRetroGaming Yeah that would be a great mod however I'm not sure on how to do it either. I have only one pair of 3D glasses (CECH-ZEG1U) so that doesn't give me much room for error if I mod mine. In your video, you mentioned that you have several of the same 3D glasses (CECH-ZEG1U)? I can help with the research and feedback if you're interested in trying to mod one of yours?

$16.75 for a battery? Did you miss the TinyCircuits one on DigiKey and Mouser for $3.49? At least I give you credit for not using a referral link. Recommending at 3.7V battery to replace a 3.2V one is extremely negligent without inspecting the circuit, unless you use a diode or resistor to drop to 3.1-3.2V.

Is 1000 mah ok?
@EveryDayRetroGaming2 жыл бұрын
If it fits it should be, but 1000 mah is over kill. the 90mah(? I can't remember) fit tight as it was a bit bigger than the 70 it came with. Just be careful screwing down the nose piece. the bigger battery might crack the black plastic part near the nose if you tighten it all the way.

DO NOT pull wires off a PCB like that or you can tare the trace wires on the PCB. BAD IDEA. Cut them if anything.
