I swear I've seen a couple of dozen of Travis's interviews and videos and this is the first one I've seen him laugh. New Perspective. one of the only players on the face of this earth that can compete in grappling at high levels in both BJJ and Judo. A very complete grappler. Crazy that he doesn't have more subscribers. Cool, He is doing videos. Just subscribed.

These are great, I especially love the budding bromance...what you suggest on opening the guard with a no-gi situation?
@TravisStevensgrappling5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Man NOGI is a different Beast all together! Closed Guard can be very strong in NOGI as well if you watch Xande Fight at ADCC! Number 1 goal don't get stuck in closed guard LOL.

I wish these videos came out everyday. Not enough judo content on the tube. But thank you very much. Y’all are fun to watch with the jokes here and there. Makes it easy to watch and laugh.

Bernardo Faria and Leo Noguiera just put out an incredible video on youtube on the Sao Paulo/Tozi pass. It's my go-to closed guard break/ pass to half guard. Definitely check that out Travis.
@TravisStevensgrappling5 жыл бұрын
I love to Sao Paulo pass. It's one of my strongest techniques. But when I teach I like to show things that go together well. All three of these openings work well together so you can combo how you open the guard, The San Paulo pass requires you to close the distance. I try to only use it when I have lost the battle of maintaining posture.

Request (you both asked!): less bantering, more mercilessly choking Uke. Or keep bantering, but after mercilessly choking Uke after opening his closed guard with a BS Kit Dale move, then passing his half guard with crushing pressure (e.g. demonstrating Travis' oft-advertised but never-shown chin in eye socket).
@TravisStevensgrappling5 жыл бұрын
The Kit Dale Move is not B.S. It may look like it but I have opened a ton of guards with it. You just have to know when to use it.
@OlivierTravers5 жыл бұрын
@@TravisStevensgrappling I believe you and was saying this in jest. I do intend to try it since I was already working on the Tozi pass. As a lazy middle-aged guy, standing to open the closed guard is not super effective for me.
@TravisStevensgrappling5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I hear you! I don't like standing to open the guard either. It might work "better" but it also takes more work. I prefer to stay on the ground and San Paulo pass to get the guard to open.
