Salve! Can I get espresso doppio, per piacere? I do respect and admire your struggle to keep the 'espresso/expresso issue' clear, but... I see more troubles ahead. I've just discovered an amazing British television series, "The Thick of It" (I know, it's started in 2005 but I'm writing from Poland where time passes slowly or even backwards these days) and I caught a Scotsman (Malcolm Tucker) saying this Italian classic 'espressione di saluto' in a very modern British way: "arrive - f.....g - dérci". What are you going to do with THAT?

" A latte"???? This term, or idiom, actually sounds new to me, and very strange. My English is far from perfect, of course. Although, as far as I know, words like pizza, cappuccino, etc. have been taken from the everyday Italian spoken language, 'a latte' does not exist. In fact, in Italy, it is common to ask in bars for 'a glass of milk', which is completely different from 'a latte'. When you say 'a latte' at Starbucks, do you wish to receive a glass of milk, a cup of hot milk, or something else based on milk but different from 'a glass of milk'? So you no longer use to ask for 'a glass of milk'? Finally, I wanted to ask if this expression applies to the entire Anglo-Saxon world or only to the United States. And thank you in advance!
