How much more of a help would all that have been had she been standing in front of a closet, chest of draws, and just showing properly each stage. Rather than having to try to understand, work out what she meant. Yes there were close up shots of people doing things in there closets, but it’s never as good as being shown by the person doing the talking, they just explain things better verbally and physically. I love being able to see everything with file folding, but I really don't have the energy to do that with everything- so I do it for shirts (and probably incorrectly, since I just fold it in half an extra time and that does it for me) pants, and sweaters. Everything else gets either hung up, or tossed in without being folded at all.

Matching hangers doesn't really work for me. I can only use cloth hangers on tanks, jackets, and sleeveless dresses. For anything with sleeves and a closed front, I'm too concerned that the fabric would stretch, so I keep those on tube hangers. Our dry cleaners collect used wire hangers so it's easy for me to get rid of those.

I have piled and filed my clothes before, and while I like filing better, I can tell you that your drawer organization will absolutely 100% disintegrate faster if you file. If you take three shirts off the top of a pile, what's going to happen to the pile? Nothing. If you take three shirts out of a vertical file, suddenly there's not enough holding the rest of them in place and they'll start to slide and crumple on themselves.

I know that because I just watched a video on dealing with clutter with adhd and saw a comment I left saying "i pulled everything out of my closet and now I'm too overwhelmed to continue." Now I've just clicked on this video and it started playing at a minute in meaning I've already watched this video before but didn't make it through the entire thing. Looks like my dumbass watched this video up until you said "step 1 is too pull everything out so you can see what you have" and without watching anymore I did it. It's amazing how stupidly cyclical my life is.

3:43 hanging long dresses to another place is not the right answer if you want to keep things organized and logically at the same place. One can use double hanger method, I wonder why she as a professional organizer did not say this. After all it’s one of the basic things things she left unmentioned. Maybe because this is a promotion to sell her consulting and therefore she also want us to believe that one should have seasonal organizing.

Notice you don’t show how to pull out of a file fold. That is because it also falls apart just like pile fold. I don’t have enough clothes the file fold and it be tight in the drawer. My clothes are still enough to stand up in the file fold method. Learning how to organize your space is not a set of rules made by someone else. It is learning how you live and we all live differently.
