The main strategy I used when facing faster and higher energy opponents was to let the time run, counter, and wait for them to tire out. Once their energy was gone, I still had most of my energy remaining and was able to go after them. Nice!

@KogaSoda2 TKD sparring is a game, not actual fighting. Aside from trying to tire out opponents, there are many other strategies to use. That example is just what worked for me often. I never met anyone who could keep their energy high after three 2 minute rounds.

Wow! I never thought about intentionally tire out the faster opponent. I do clinches a lot though to avoid getting kicked during my sparring practices against much faster teenagers. I am 57 and still new at sparring since it is unnatural for me at my old age to learn to spar. Your sparring tips are great. I need to apply them during sparring practices.

@@W1Taekwondo It is not easy to start learning TKD after 53. I do love the physical challenges plus it is great hanging out with the kids and teens. They make me smile non-stop during classes.

@@Trang-xq9fn Try out BJJ too. It's a lot easier for older people or people with injuries to train in.
