Did the steps in the video and now games crashes after 5-10 minutes to desktop. What to adjust first? Lower clock speeds? More voltage on the ram or CPU? Both?

Great video. The only thing you forgot was to go back into bios and select adaptive mode when you find a stable clock and voltage. All you need to do is plu in whatever voltage you had during manual tests. I use LLC 5 personally. This video helped me because I was trying to OC and for the longest time, I felt like my voltages were really high. Changing the rest of these settings (I only had llc, voltage and clocks done) gave me 4.7 @ 1.35 (kicks up to 1.36 with adaptive) vs. the OC I did @ 4.5 with 1.35! So yes, the rest of these settings really do matter. The asus enhanced one just messes with the default intel setting and there is no need for it when OCing. To anyone saying there is too many steps, you should have gotten a non k cpu or stuck to consoles. There is more to your PC than just plug and play gaming. You would be wise to find stability vs. the auto settings that motherboards are set to to prevent failure on initial boots and always supply way too much voltage by default. Take the time and learn this stuff. If you have no desire to OC, don't bother with a K series chip or it's components. Is it worth it? yes. from my experience finding stability, not necessarily ocing, is definitely worth it. You should expect to learn this stuff when building PC's or you may just end up with an unstable rig running too hot and the lifespan decreased (however much it may be).

So, I followed your instructions and now I have it running at 1.31v at 4.5ghz. I did have it at 4.6 but it said hardware problems so I stopped it and set it to 4.5. So far, so good. Joanne, I have a 6700k and the ASUS VIII Hero so I decided to try out your settings. When I used the Min CPU Core Cache ratio set to 8, this caused pretty bad lag on my desktop. Just moving around icons and windows was very laggy on my normally buttery smooth 150hz monitor. While monitoring the cpu clock speed with CPUID as I moved the icons/windows around and the cpu clock rose, the lag would go away and would return as soon as I stopped dragging them around and the cpu clock lowered. Raising the min core cache ratio to 41 made the lag go away.

I just got the 6700k and the same ASUS VIII Hero MB and found your tutorial very helpful. I set out for 4.5ghz instead of 4.6 and found for me my stable voltage is 1.295v and I then set to adaptive with 1.295 entered for additional turbo mode CPU core voltage. Room temp of 26C and my CPU idles around 28C! On default settings and clock speeds my idle was at least 5 degrees warmer and my peak temps are around 10c less! Peak temps are high 60's for any stress test or game I throw at it. The only part of the video I didn't adjust was keeping load line calibration set to auto. I also did not change CPU VCCIO from auto and kept CPU system agent voltage to auto. Thanks again!!!

caymandiver75 Awsome good to know :)!. And the main issues I heard we're mainly a lot of different error codes people we're getting and the motherboard stuck in a constant bootloop as well as the mobo dying in about 4-6 months of use, but I guess most of these issues are user error more than anything haha.

Use level 5 load line! That's the one where your preset voltage sticks under stress testing. At higher voltages you may need a bit of trickery with offset. For example I had to set mine at 1.41v but with minus 0.01v offset to get a stable 1.408v which is the voltage my 6700k needed for 4.6ghz. Also you can run up to 1.45v 24/7 if you want as long as you have the cooling. This is Asus's recommendation. The board actually says up to 1.5v is ok though it'll run VERY HOT. lol
@nuruddinpeters9491
@nuruddinpeters9491 8 жыл бұрын
+TheBlackIdentity Yea... I have to hit 1.39~1.41 vcore for 4.6 stability and it really pisses me off since I'm stable with 4.5ghz at 1.29~1.31vcore. So much voltage just for 100mhz, makes me sad. I'm using 4.5ghz for now... I"m glad to read you have a similar situation to achieve 4.6ghz as I do. Would be nice to be as lucky at this video-girl, lol. 4.6ghz @ 1.31~1.34ghz vcore

Nuruddin Peters I've seen worse samples. We all play the silicon lottery. I'm satisfied with mine. 46 multi with 45 cache is more then good enough for anything and I can still run this setting at minimum fan speed(600rpm) on my h110i gt so it's also quiet.
@nuruddinpeters9491
@nuruddinpeters9491 8 жыл бұрын
+TheBlackIdentity That's amazing! I was thinking about upgrading my Hydro-Cooling from H80i GT, but not sure if it will be a massive cooling difference if I upgrade to H100i gtx [my thermaltake lv10gt should fit this exactly, not sure about h110i] Coming from an AMD setup for over 20yrs, I see the massive leap on Intel already... I feel like, I didn't see the whole world correctly now that I'm here. Lol

+Jonathan Jung depends... Aida64 wasnt enough for me.@4.5 oc stability was OK with 1.32vcore and playing "some games"... 2-3 weeks later, Rise of Tomb Raider would occasionally crash. Pumped my vcore to 1.33v. RISE OF tombraider was still randomly unstable (especially around the Soviet Installation area, strannnge.) I ran realbench utility, noticed some tests wouldnt complete for a full score. (This was especially telling that my pc was still unstable, although normal use wouldnt lead to crashes and Aida64 would succeed with stability test.) i pumped 1.36vcore into cpu, aida is good, normal computer use is good, rise of tombraider 13hours in, (no more random bluee screen crashes), and, realbench would complete all tests with a finall score.) So please note. aida64 isnt enough, and some pc games wont crash as they just dont stress cpu enough. (e.g. The Witcher 3 didnt crash my pc once, nor did Wolfenstein: The Old Blood) if you think youre really stable, run Realbench utility, and see if it completes all 4 stability tests. (if you have rise of tomb raider, i suggest playing that too, soviet installation area has great stress points apparently!)

On the Asus ROG guide they recommend keeping core voltage below 1.45, and 1.40 if you want to play it safe. Why does this differ so much from your recommendation of staying below 1.35?
@Snicklefritz_76

I recently threw one of these together and used the AI3 5-Way Opt tool to OC and it bumped my core voltage to around 1.43. The higher the voltage the more heat your components are going to generate. I prefer this manual method and doing some testing to find the lowest possible voltage necessary to run at a stable OC.

You can go past 1.35 volts. Most people say you can go up to 1.45 volts if you got a high end cooler which you should have if your wanting to overclock any chip.

1.45 is max for skylake, if you don't want to burn your 14nm unless you are going for extreme cooling

can you make a video of disabling motherboard settings on this motherboard to make the post boot up faster? it takes pretty long for me, and then after that it boots up in like 4-5 seconds.

Wow a girl that actually knows this shit and owns it. Thank you joanne. Learned alot from 4 minutes of your time even 3 years later! ***update*** I have managed to strike on my 6600k 4.7ghz with LLC at 6 and as well 1.31 volts. I have also tried reaching for 4.8 but not even at 1.4 will it stay stable (even with LLC at 8) Most likely would have to reach for 1.43 in order to hit the stable mark but it isn't worth it. If it was 5ghz... maybe. I think I will setle for 4.7ghz @ 1.31v or realistically speaking 1.34 due to LLC at 6.

Great Vid thank you, covered some more indepth options others dont, at a very proficient speed. It is a video so pausing/rewinding easy where necessary. Waffle Free.

Hello. I put all the settings as you did you see in the video and a 4.6 ghz is fine. a question if I wanted to try to bring it to 4.8 or 4.9 to tell me what values I should try to change. Thank you.

When looking at the temperatures, one of my cores spiked at 83'C but on average all cores stayed below 70..... is this an issue that it spiked that high or am good?
